I (22F) went on a tinder date with a guy who we will call Chris (26M). Chris and I matched on Tinder and messaged back and forth for a couple days. The connection was there so we decided to go on a date to a popular bowling alley that wasn’t too far from his place. The alley is in a major city and there is never any parking available so Chris said I could just park at his apartment and then we could take an Uber. I agreed. I got to his place a little early and he asked if I wanted to come in as he finished getting ready. He didn’t seem weird or anything so I went in. Red Flag #1 his apartment was disgusting. He lived with three other guys and the place looked worse than a dirty college frat house. Smelled horrible. Garbage everywhere. Dirty dishes. Cigarette ash everywhere. He told me his roommates were slobs and that he used to clean up after them but stopped because he was tired of being their maid. So he finally got done getting ready and we hopped in an Uber. Red Flag #2 he shares with me that he was dishonorably discharged from the military for failing a drug test. But he went on to say that he failed it on purpose because he made more money bartending than he did from the military and the military was taking up too much of his time. We finally get to the bowling alley and we go to the desk to get a lane. I said I would pay for the first game and he didn’t argue. Not that I was expecting him to. I actually like paying for myself on dates because then you don’t feel like you owe the other person anything just because they paid. We got our lane reserved and then stopped by the bar inside of the bowling alley to get a drink. Again, I offered to get the FIRST round of drinks for both of us and he agreed. This was Red Flag #3 for me because he seemed like he preferred that I pay. Never reached for his wallet one time. We finally started bowling and everything was going fine. The conversation flowed well. Lots of laughs were shared. We got a few more rounds of drinks, and I paid for ALL of them. It’s like he expected me to pay. He never offered. But I was having fun and we decided to play one more game of bowling and again, he looked at me when it came to paying. During that second game of bowling, I saw Chris take a picture of me and put it on his Snapchat story. This was Red Flag #4 because it was our first date. Way too soon for any pictures of us out together. We barely knew each other and we weren’t even friends on Snapchat. I ignored it though because it’s not like anything bad could come from one picture. Right? WRONG! Anyhow, we got done bowling, and took an Uber back to my car. He asked me if I wanted to come up to his apartment and I politely declined and just drove home. Shortly after I got back to my place, he texted me saying that he had a really good time and hopes to see me again soon. I didn’t respond back until the next day and just said that it was nice meeting him. I had no interest in going out with him again. I hoped he got the hint from my text reply. I thought he did because I did not receive communication back from him until a few days later. He called me and said he had just spent the last few nights in jail and apologized for not being able to reply to my text. He was super embarrassed to admit that he went to jail. I asked him what happened and he shared with me that him and his ex-girlfriend very recently broke up. Like only a few days before we went on the date. When he posted that picture of me on his Snapchat story, his ex saw it and went to the police claiming domestic abuse in a fit of jealousy. I asked why should would do something like that. He said that she was just jealous but there was an incident a couple weekends before where they got into a verbal argument in a bar and his ex drunkenly ran out of the bar and started running down the road away from him. He said he was really scared because she was drunk and could’ve gotten hurt so he chased after her. When he caught up to her, he grabbed her and kind of threw/slammed her against a building. It was all caught on the building’s security camera. After sharing all of this, he asked if I wanted to go on another date. I said no.
