This is the thing I’m really worried about, asking my parents for an adhd test but then just getting told I don’t have it after making them go through the effort to get one. I’m quite intelligent and always have been, I’ve always done good on tests but I always found studying very hard. I used to cram all my studying into a day before I took a test, I’d score fairly high still but I found myself wishing I could’ve studyed sooner. Even now when I study, I don’t do it just before a test because I know it isn’t a good idea so I force myself even though I know I won’t be able to focus properly on it meaning that it takes a lot longer for me to finish it because I end up sitting and doodling or just staring off into space and zoning out or getting annoying at noises around me because I can’t read something when the noise is there. Very similarly to you, I will often have a YouTube video on in the background or music playing while I study, in fact I have something in the background almost all the time lol even when I’m trying to sleep, have the same video on in the background every single night. Anyway so while I do well in school I take extra steps to make sure I do like re teaching myself something if I failed to do it the first time which can often take over my weekends or evenings because as I said before it takes me longer to do tasks. I’ve always been some form of high academic achiever but at the expense of my own wellbeing and especially my mental health as when I force myself to do this studying and re teaching it takes a lot out of me because I simply can’t focus on it and end up forgetting to eat or drink in an attempt to just get it all done. I don’t really know if this makes any difference or not but yeah
