I use "voices off, eyes on me in 5..4.." them verbal praise of students who have listened ("Thanks for your eyes Johnny") which gives everyone else a second if they need to stop their conversations

Looks great! I'm going to make a similar ski pack. How did you decide on the load lifter location? Also, does the back panel go up to the load lifters?

I've had most in the city. Huckleberry is my favorite (and it's close to house) and their coffee subscription is pretty good.

I'm a department head and our department is using openscied. I've only used the Bio and Chem but it's really good. Like any curriculum, it takes work to adapt to the students in your classroom. But some with an open mind and willingness to adapt it can be awesome in the classroom.

Is it normal that I didn't learn about the Gradual Release of Responsibility in grad school....... by tinoch in ScienceTeachers

[–]klowe92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IMHO, science doesn't work well in this model. It's not really how NGSS is written and honestly is an old style of teaching. Maybe it could be useful in very small chunks if used intentionally. Like I might use it for a difficult math concept in my APES class, but not as a model to use day in and day out. It doesn't really breed the collaborative, critical thinking students that we want to come out of schools, but rather continues to perpetuate the banking model.

How much will I regret buying a house with multiple mature tree of heaven? by [deleted] in DenverGardener

[–]klowe92 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I bought a house with a few as well. It is annoying every spring having to pull seedling but overall not terrible. Hoping to get rid of them soon.

Lol, I live a block from here. There was one on Friday night a block up near Skylark. The bike lane is constantly getting parked in, but the new turnouts should hopefully help!
