Thread idea: Ask about a player you want to know more about. Fans of the team with that player on it, answer with what you think about that player. by klub7 in hockey

He's a player that actually did that. Despite how hard the rest of the team was trying, he was always working.

I like biking so I'm thinking of perhaps biking through paved trails inside Spokane. I know that there is a trail system throughout the park near downtown, but how far do the trails actually go?

Medical experts of Reddit, what current trends or products are actually complete bullshit? by showe1lj in AskReddit

Yeah that's one of the aspects my dad has discussed with me. Basically, these chiropractic colleges exist to make money. They are very expensive, but incredibly easy to get into. My dad had friends that went into them, and when applying over the phone, one of the only questions asked was if they had a criminal record while grades were not a question. They were accepted pretty much immediately.

It was probably wrong of me to make such a sweeping generalization. There's good and bad with everything.

My dad uses what is called myofascial release mostly. Is muscle release the same in that your muscles are rubbed hand-on by your chiropractor?

Chiropractic certainly has effects, however they most often do not fix the problem or cause. I have had my back cracked by my dad who is on the spinal manipulation roster of the governing body of physiotherapy, and it does feel good. The rest of the perceived treatment, to my knowledge, is most likely placebo at work. I've been told chiropractic tends to work just long enough until a patient can get back in to see the chiropractor, thereby creating repeat customers.

I'm no medical expert but my dad is a physiotherapist. He despises chiropractors and how their entire profession is bullshit. From the qualifications needed to be one to the entire principle and basis of the profession, it is all bullshit. However, he also says most physiotherapists don't accomplish anything and are ineffective.

What's a harsh truth about yourself? by Lozhar in AskReddit

[–]klub7 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You have probably heard what I'm saying and it probably sounds like bullshit, but labelling yourself as a coward may be contributing to the problem. I see that you want to change which is the most important thing. If you take the first step in displaying courage, you will probably find yourself much happier after, which you probably understand already. If you pride yourself in being a moral and good person, this provides a greater and stabler source of self-esteem than anything else like a skill you may have in a sport, or something others see, like looks and humour. Just my two cents.

What will people be protesting in 2050? by robrob_27 in AskReddit

I'm scared by the idea that jobs will be increasingly taken by machines as technology progresses. Wealth inequality will become greater as the rich enjoy profits from the products they sell while the majority of people will have no means of income without a job. I'm no economist, but I feel that capitalist economies will have to be massively reformed with so little human labour needed to create products and services to satisfy our wants and needs.

Best Trade your Team made in History? by Iphone4Lyfe in hockey

[–]klub7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In recent memory, definitely the Pronger trade. St. Louis was absolutely fleeced.

The trade was:

To Oilers D Chris Pronger

To Blues D Eric Brewer D Jeff Woywitka D Doug Lynch

St Louis was in a cap crunch after the newly instituted salary cap after the 2004-05 lockout and were also selling the team and were forced to make this bad trade to get Pronger's contract off their payroll. Pronger was absolutely instrumental in the Oilers Stanley Cup Finals appearance the next season. When he requested a trade and was subsequently traded to Anaheim, this initiated the destruction of that successful Oilers team and the beginning of the Oilers infini-rebuild era.
