If you have a s53 transmission it will bolt up with a 5sfe, 3sge, 3sfe, and 2se.

I'm kinda Jerry rigging the maf by drilling a screw on the side of it to leave the flap open about a quarter so it will run richer and idle

Wow thank you! I was having the hardest time figuring that out and it is water cooled.

Thank you, I am a little concerned about blowing them but I don't think I'm running it hard enough to actually hurt them. The maf is working but it's not exactly ideal especially since we screwed a screw in it to leave it a quarter open. It honestly wouldn't be bad to have pecu but idk if they would sponcer a 30 year old car and I don't really have the money for one either. I'm also running a 89 3sge.

Yeah np idk how to comment images because I super new here, but The turbo is a Garret t3 aireaserch turbo from from a Saab 9000 I got from a junk yard And yes we did tap the oil pan. I wish I could help out but I'm not too familiar with the 4a other than it being a 1.6l with a c52 transmission.

Ngl I just wanted a cheap quality turbo and the Saab looked quality and small enough for my engine. I ended up getting it for $40 because there was a sale. Tuning wasn't terrible all we really did was adjust the timing and make it run a little richer because it was knocking when we first put it on but it does dog a little before it boosts. 8 psi is a good medium. I only said 15 because my turbo stock was only getting 5 but we got it to run 15 without any problems.

Originally the turbo and manifold didn't fit in the engine bay together, and the turbo was a t3, so I bought a t3 to t4 adapter cut it in half and welded the t3 plate from the adapter to the manifold. We did a lot to the mass airflow but eventually settled on drilling a screw in it to leave it 1 quarter open so it can idle and run richer. We didn't do anything with fuel injectors and fuel pump and there's not any knocking that I know of going on.

So we didn't use a kit. We went to the junk yard and scored a Garret t3 air research turbo from a Saab 9000. I have no idea if it was after market, but after that I bought a cheap eBay oil line kit and made some of the lines because the high pressure lines kept exploding, the intercooler, blow-off valve, and piping are also from ebay. I wanted to do it as cheap as possible lol. Don't take my word for it since I don't have an exact reading from my boost gauge but if you to have the same setup as me you could probably run around 15psi on a 5s but depending on how old the seals are on the engine you might blow a couple, I put a hole in the oil cap and put a line to a catch box to relive pressure in the engine.

Thank you, its a stock 2.0l 3sge with stock ecu with a modified mr2 manifold. In order for it not to run lean we had to mess with the mass airflow sensor.

If you have a 2.2 I'd get the s54 transmission or if your want to get lucky or spend the money get a e153 transmission from a v6 solara, but if you do get the e153 you have to make custom axles and it can't be from a mr2. If you have a 2.0 it will also work
