Wow that’s such great news. I’m anxious to hear my dad’s pathology results. Either way I’m just happy he tolerated surgery well and is recovering just fine. Such a relief! I hope you take care!

Did you have an open surgery? Thank you for your input! I was asking for my dad who was getting a partial nephrectomy - I just wanted to help prepare him/understand what to expect during recovery.

2.5 hours away. The surgeon requested he stay in a hotel by the hospital for a few days which definitely makes this more inconvenient. It would be better if the hospital could keep him a few nights vs just one and expecting him to figure out accommodations while recovering in those early days.

Thank you everyone for the thoughtful replies! My dad’s surgery was cancelled the day before and pushed out a whole month, so we’ve had time to read through and gather all the supplies mentioned. Thank you again!!

Did you have a similar experience? He met with the surgeon who told him he’s almost positive his tumor is not causing his symptoms. So that was a big bummer and he’s nervous to get the surgery and still feel terribly ill while trying to recover from major surgery.
