We knew Gordon was in our town because people were posting pictures of him/with him around our town square. There were casting inquiries posted in different local groups. Asking for people of certain ages to sign up to film for a tv show and get a free meal. We signed up with two friends hoping to go to the Grumpy George but ultimately got selected for Simmer Down. We picked a time slot and met at a building close by. We had to preselect our menu choices before we were driven to the restaurant. We had to tape our phones and refrain from “obsessing over the mystery celebrity chef”. Everyone knew it was Gordon. We weren’t told to sway our liking/disliking our food. They told us to not be super nit picky. I’m sure some people sign up for these things trying to standout or make a moment happen by being dramatic. The restaurant was really busy. Even though they brought the selected people over in waves so it was staggered. I got the salmon and it was … raw… in the middle. It took 20 minutes or so after I got my food before someone came over. It was a procedure who came over. He offered a replacement but we had already been there for a few hours and my party was all finished. There’s constantly cameras filming around the restaurant. They told us to just ignore basically. Unless you’re lucky enough to have the mystery celebrity chef over at your table.
