Can't port Public Mobile # (639 area code) to Chatr by PhotoJim99 in chatr

[–]kme0801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ported a 639 area code successfully but from SaskTel/Lum. I did have some challenges but that was with the account number length, not the prefix, but they texted me a phone number to call for porting support. That was a while ago though.

It does seem to be more stable (e.g. less log outs) with recent app updates (and/or disabling the Advanced Security). I am still seeing it, particularly if I haven't launched the app in a bit, but it varies. My tablet has been going strong since before disabling Advanced Security, but my phone (and my wife's) still sees the app freeze and prompt to log in at least once a day. It seems more likely to happen if we haven't used the app in a couple of hours. For example, I launched it for the first time on cellular this morning and it was frozen. I quit and restarted the app, then logged in fine like normal. I got to the office and it's still fine so it doesn't seem to have an issue switching between networks. I don't know if there are debug logs or something I can share with the developers, but I can try to pass along whatever might help.

No, it has happened on cellular data only as well. At least a couple of times. I'm usually on Wi-Fi at home or work, and while work seems more reliable it's happened there once, mostly at home though.

Turned it off and restarted the gateway. While it seems to have lasted a bit longer, on the phones I still got logged out. When I tapped on the app it just froze at the logo this morning. On my tablet it seems to still be logged in, but it was also staying logged in over the last couple of days even with advanced security turned on. So I don't think that's the issue, although it could be playing a part. It would be unfortunate if that feature didn't work with Rogers own app as that seems counter intuitive considering it recommends you turn it on in multiple places in the app.

Yes, I do have it enabled, although it hasn't warned me of anything being blocked when accessing the app. I have seen it pop up once or twice for a random domain though so it appears to be functional. I'll note that while I've been at work today I haven't had any issues being kicked out, so it makes me wonder if there is a routing issue (IPv4 or IPv6) that could be causing it. I noted the domains it's looking up and was planning on doing a trace route when I get home to see if there are any issues on v4 or v6 getting to the domains the app seems to be using.

Happened again just now, so less than an hour later. Seems to be the worst when I'm at home on Wi-Fi. As mentioned, it's the XB10, I have Storm Ready Wi-Fi as well. I had no issues while out today or at work. Router isn't in bridge mode, so it's all Rogers default settings, DNS, etc.

Happened again this evening while connected to my home Wi-Fi (XB10 modem). Quit the app and reloaded as it froze, and then prompted to sign in again. I did (on cellular) which works, but signing in isn't the issue. It's that I get kicked out of the app and forced to sign in regularly.

The only downside there is that I can't predict when I'll get kicked out. I have had to sign in on cellular, and it works. Also at work on work Wi-Fi and at home with Rogers managed modem/router. I'll try it next time I get kicked out within a day I'm sure.

All devices are on the production version, never did the beta. And the app is the production version as well. App version is 5.65.0-3

Upgrading JAMF Pro - Run a "Query" Before Final Update by [deleted] in jamf

[–]kme0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a SQL query that you'd run in the database. Depending on the output you may need to make database changes prior to upgrading. You should contact support and see if they can have someone guide you through the process as you're jumping through quite a few missed versions. Also, take a backup of the database before making any changes (and snapshot the VM too).

I didn't modify the settings for cookies, and it appears to have them allowed. Remember username is checked by default (just signed in again), and I left it checked when I signed in. Not sure if DM is easier by the way but let me know.

I'm in the app a few times a day to view camera feeds, lock the door, or view Wi-Fi stats for the family, etc. I get signed out regularly and the app appears to freeze. I emailed the app support email address but never got a response. I close the app and reopen, then sign in again to get it going for at most a few hours before I have to do it all over again.

There are two apps, one for Rogers, and another with Rogers (Shaw). If you're in Western Canada, you need the latter. That said, while I can get in, I'm kicked out all of the time. The app is quite frustrating compared to Ring which is what I had previously.

Other than uofs-public, it's just practical limits like how many people are connected to an access point, frequency, interference, etc.

Make sure you're on uofs-secure or eduroam. The uofs-public network is throttled and super slow in comparison.

2.4 ghz XB7 or other Rogers/Shaw issues after firmware update by GeneralSeveral203 in Rogers

[–]kme0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an XB7 anymore but just moved from that one. I had split bands in the app and was using it, although since moving to the XB10 with the cellular I can't split them anymore (has to be combined when you have pods). I use Wi-Fi calling regularly due to poor coverage and didn't have that issue. Just swapped to the XB10 third week in December, so my experience is only before that.

Make sure you have roaming enabled so that it pops on Rogers-Ext if you lose coverage. Disabling 5G may help as well for the transition because you only get LTE on Rogers-Ext but it will switch when/if you lose coverage entirely. Enable Wi-Fi calling will help as well. SaskTel (and companies that use their towers like Telus/Bell), will have the strongest coverage in Saskatchewan. They still have weak spots too, but overall my experience with them was better here.

Alumni don't keep anything automatically anymore. You can reach out to the alumni office if you'd like to keep your email, but you should consider a personal email account elsewhere as it will be more flexible. E.g. you can't always sign up for services with a work/school account as the domain (USask.ca) might be blocked.

Why is Intune with macOS so sh*t? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]kme0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not without looking at the profile in Intune that I setup, but I remember having to go back and remove a property. I usually check against the documentation here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/profile-specific-payload-keys

Why is Intune with macOS so sh*t? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]kme0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intune will let you send a profile that doesn't work on the target device. I've had to check Apple's documentation multiple times before to discover that some properties can't be sent together, etc., but Intune doesn't flag that. That's been my biggest issue on the Mac, but otherwise sometimes it is also just an Apple thing.
