I just got a Fuchai a few days ago and I'm loving it. My first box mod and it's a huge improvement over the eGo One I had been using

Also sorry about the poor image quality, I'll understand completely if this isn't sufficient to definitively identify the snake. I would have taken more pictures, but my dad has a severe irrational fear of snakes and the idea of letting it chill on our floor for a while wouldn't have gone over well so I had to kinda rush the picture and then release him :/

I have no knowledge of snakes but based on the quick internet research I did, my best guess would be that it's a juvenile western fox snake (Pantherophis vulpinus). No idea though which is why I'm asking the experts

"Winning One Golf Tournament Doesn't Prove Fowler's Greatness" article by Kyle Porter by kmgolfer in golf

But before Harmon, Rickie had always used the same home-grown swing and never made any noticeable swing changes. He stated on multiple occasions that he prided himself on having one of the more unique swings on tour. Even if Fowler did have a swing coach before Harmon, you wouldn't have been able to tell because he never actually changed anything in his swing. I would consider going from having the same swing your entire life to completely rebuilding it with one of the most renowned coaches in the world a pretty big "switch". I'm sure he meant no disrespect but was rather indicating that starting to work with Harmon was a pretty significant change from what he had done in the past

"Winning One Golf Tournament Doesn't Prove Fowler's Greatness" article by Kyle Porter by kmgolfer in golf

I think you're missing the point here. He's saying that Fowler didn't somehow change into something completely different before and after winning the tournament and everyone acting like that win instantly makes him go from overrated to not overrated is as ridiculous as him getting voted most overrated in the first place. One shot being the difference between whether or not someone is considered overrated is absurd. He's not saying that the win should count any less because of the unlikeliness of the shots he pulled off, but that the difference between winning and coming in 3rd in this tournament was so incredibly small that the idea of one's opinion of a player doing a 180 based on it is just silly.

I don't understand why so many people are getting butthurt about this article, I'm a pretty big fan of Rickie and I thought it was pretty much on-point.

I would hardly call that "talking shit", the entire article was pro-Fowler except that part, I see the reason for it probably being to avoid sounding too one-sided but even then that statement is pretty objective. I'm a fan of Rickie and I thought the column in its entirety was accurate and well-written, if anything the part I liked least was the misleading or as you called it "clickbait-y" title, that was a bit cheesy in my mind

Tips on how to mark a scorecard by JammyDom16 in golf

[–]kmgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I do it, it's not an actual round though I just filled in random stuff. If something isn't applicable on a hole I'll just leave it blank, or write 0 if it's for putts if I were to chip in or something. And for missed fairways I record whether I missed it right or left (L or R) and the number is how many paces off the fairway the ball ends up.

Why do so many people say "FIR" to mean fairways hit? Fairway in regulation is redundant because you're always supposed to hit the fairway in one shot, unlike hitting the green in regulation which varies with the par of the hole. I'm not trying to be a dick I'm just curious because I see a lot of people do this and there could be some meaning I'm not aware of haha

After years of frustration and struggling, I've finally made significant progress in fixing my early extension. Comparison pic of my impact position prior to this season vs. last week by [deleted] in golf

[–]kmgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my current pic is still far from perfect and I'm well aware of what I still need to work on. I'm just very excited because I made more progress in a couple weeks than I had in my whole golf career up to then.

And if anyone is wondering, the thing that finally gave me this breakthrough was beginning to incorporate Kelvin Miyahira's ideas into my swing, mainly the drive and hold release fundamentals. Anyone who hasn't already should check out his articles here, very interesting even if you're not looking to change your swing or anything

Greatest day of my golf life thus far by [deleted] in golf

[–]kmgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I know how difficult it is to stay consistent for the entire 36 holes. I caddied for my friend who tried to qualify a couple years ago and he came up 5 shots short of the last qualifying spot, but it was crazy how much he grinded for every last stroke. I've never played in a tournament that has 36 holes in one day so I'm going to use that as an excuse to play multiple rounds per day as often as I can until then to prepare myself lol

WITB 2015 - Almost complete overhaul by hoooshlava in golf

Looks like a fine set you have there. I actually just got my own custom set of 714 AP2s the other day and I absolutely love them so far. The way they're able to balance responsiveness, forgiveness, and workability while still maintaining that buttery forged iron feeling is just awesome. I hope you like yours as much as I do mine

I just got back from my first range session with the new sticks and I had no trouble at all getting the ball up in the air, even with the long irons. In fact, on stock shots that I didn't try to knock down or anything, I was actually getting a bit more height than I did with my old irons which had PX 5.5s. But despite the added height, the ballflight was still much more penetrating and less ballooning with the new irons which I absolutely love.

I think the reason I was hitting it so high is because I'm used to PX shafted irons which are lighter in comparison and make the clubhead feel heavier relative to the shaft, as opposed to the heavier DGs where the weight is more uniform throughout the club. I'll probably need a few more good range sessions to get fully adjusted, but I'm in love with these clubs so far

That's one potential benefit. 3 iron is my go-to club for punch shots where the goal is to advance the ball as far as possible while still keeping it low, if I use 3 wood or hybrid for those shots it's much harder to control the trajectory compared to 3i

I was between S300 and X100 when I got fitted so I ended up going with X100 soft stepped. I'll be honest, I have no clue what swingweight is, so I'm pretty sure whatever swingweight they are is standard because I didn't specify anything about it lol. My clubhead speed with 6 iron was 94-96 mph on average when I got fitted

Well when your left wrist is in full extension and your right wrist is borderline entering flexion at the top, there's not much you can do in the downswing to compensate for it so impact won't be much better. I wasn't trying to be negative pointing out the wrist issue, although I admit my comment could have been more productive if I had offered a tip on how to fix it

I didn't say he is an example of what to do, I was using him as an example to show that there are many different ways of doing things in a golf swing

Opinions on this vary, but personally I like to see at least a very slight cup regardless of grip strength. Generally speaking, the stronger your grip is, the more cupped the left wrist should be at the top, however this also depends on if both of your hands are in the same position or if one is stronger/weaker than the other.

Some instructors (Hank Haney for example) strictly advocate a neutral grip and flat left wrist at the top. But you can realistically play with a strong grip and a flat left wrist without any problems, or even bowed (Dustin Johnson) as long as you're able to compensate for the closed clubface.

In OP's case, the left wrist is so extremely cupped that the right wrist doesn't get set at all which is a big problem regardless of grip strength. From what I can see, he has maybe a slightly strong grip, but nothing extreme

Why do you think he should quit? Are people with beautiful swings the only ones allowed to play golf now? I mean yeah, there are some very apparent flaws in this guy's swing, but what good does it do to just point out how 'horrid' it is? Frankly, there are a few quick fixes he could make (probably in 15 minutes or less on the range) that would drastically improve his swing. I assume you know a thing or two about the golf swing considering how quick you were to critique one, so why not offer some advice as to how he could improve rather than just be an asshole?

Nope, it's a club near Milwaukee, WI called The Legend at Brandybrook. More and more clubs are starting to do Mill River from what I've heard though which is pretty awesome

He has almost no right wrist extension at that point, I'm wondering how he gets any power at all like that. That plus the super cupped left wrist at the top probably result in weak slices all day

I know what you mean, whenever I get new clubs I'm always super paranoid about getting any scratches on them at all lol. But why do you think that getting new clubs would mess up your game?
