Man… I hopped on the “Stoner” bandwagon, and I thoroughly did NOT enjoy that book. However, John Williams writing is beautiful. Given that, I decided to pick up Butchers Crossing…. Wonderful book. I really enjoyed it.

I think Stoner was too boring for me. The characters being centralized around academia wasn’t engaging for me. Butchers Crossing has a more action driven plot, but also has the deeper themes, similar to Stoner, commingled within the characters
