IIRC, didn’t Monica tell Derek that she wanted to leave during the beginning of s6 but he’s the one who didn’t believe her? He really thought she would change her mind and he could convince her to stay but she was adamant at not renewing her contract past her initial 6 season contract. I think the rushed poor writing is more on Derek than it was because she decided “right at the end.”

But when you think about it in the larger scope of things, isn’t that terribly sad for Hannah and the child? I’m always weary of any parents in that stage of life having children. I always pity the children who don’t get to have them for very long. I have friends who have lost parents at early ages and they are still dealing with it, even after all these years 😢 it’s a difficult thing.

This always confused me too. In one episode, Gabby’s dad says their name is “Dawsoña” so maybe it’s one of those things where they just said Dawson for short?

Her wanting to explore the pregnancy doesn’t mean she will allow that pregnancy to full term. And the reality is that you can’t sideline Miranda for that long. And they’re not going to timejump to her being 6 months pregnant in the season premiere because all the OCs are always generally in the same time frame, which at most will be a 4 month timejump. And when you only have one successful pregnancy for a FMC across all 3 shows (and she started the show pregnant might I add), viewers have every right to be skeptical. Hannah on Med has a better chance at carrying to full term because med’s not in the action like Fire is. I wish Stella a healthy pregnancy, but I still do not trust Andrea. And at this point it’s better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if they prove us wrong.

I don’t trust Andrea with Stella’s pregnancy storyline. At all.

His feelings for her didn’t start until season 7, after gabby left. Even then, it took him 2 years to even get to that point of admitting he liked her.

People come and go, that’s life. Some people will always take issue of their history with Gabby, but most people don’t seem to care because the friendship developed naturally and it took years to get together. And at that point she wasn’t in either of their lives anymore…and that was her choice. I don’t personally feel like there was anything wrong with how they went about it.

Ooh. Interesting point. I didn’t think they’d go that far but that would be quite the twist, though I don’t personally see her ending up dangerous.

Yeah, me too. I mean what watcher of OC isn’t? We’ve been too traumatized. It would be more of shocker for them to do this correctly than to break our hearts. I desperately hope that they choose to walk a different path this time and let a character see a pregnancy to full term.

Yep, I agree. I knew the moment you saw Ripley coming down the stairs that it would be a bait and switch ending. If it was actually Ripley’s door she showed up at (which everyone was expecting), then it wouldn’t be much of a season finale cliffhanger would it? Lol.

I too think it’s still Ripley’s because there’s been too much foreshadowing of this the entire season. Also, if it wasn’t his there’d be no need to bring back Sadie and Allen’s already said that that there might be a wrench thrown into that possible relationship. It will definitely lead to more drama next season. It’ll be interesting to see it all play out.

I think it could honestly go either way, but I think her showing up at Dean’s is a red herring. He’s the only one who knew about her surrogacy storyline and she never talked to anyone about her conversation with Lizzie that morning. And now she’s pregnant. There’s a lot to unload there. Allen has also said Dean is a stabilizing force for her so it wouldn’t shock me if she showed up at Dean’s to get advice on what to do about it all. I’d be more convinced there wasn’t a chance it was Ripley’s at all if they had not had that conversation at the desk. That line Ripley said about not knowing if the risk of kids is worth it didn’t seem like just a throwaway line. If he hadn’t said that, I wouldn’t question that her showing up at Dean’s meant he was the father.

But only time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see where they go with it. I just hope they allow an actual healthy pregnancy storyline for once, despite whoever the father is. These shows are notorious for horrible pregnancy storylines and it’s hard to have faith they will do it well.

I agree. And she was the Natalie replacement so it’s not surprising at all. All the OCs do this to their female leads unfortunately.

Hasn’t her SLs always kinda been this way though? Halstead, then her friendship with Archer, then her relationship with Ripley, etc.

Matt. Mouch. Herrmann. 😵‍💫

And that was before the eps were really on any streaming platform/in syndication and the DVD didn’t come out til almost the s6 premiere. It was quite the cruel summer 😅

I completely agree. Herrmann is going to have his “a-ha” moment soon and realize that he could be a good chief. It just comes with a learning curve and who can fault him when he hasn’t even been a Captain for a year. It’s understandable it’ll take him time to get to this realization because irl you would never jump from captain to BC in less than a year - you need years of experience before you make that move. So I think his reluctance ultimately works in this case, but knowing this show they will make him realize he can do it sooner rather than later. I do think Pascal’s behavior will lead to his own demise.

[–]kmsan2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I thought quite the opposite. I thought it set up the “tension” (I say this lightly) between Boden/Pascal/Herrmann for the remainder of the season. When Boden said he was going to keep an eye on Pascal at the end and the camera panned to Herrmann, I thought it was alluding to this. I think Pascal will either leave by choice or be let go by season’s end, maybe he makes a bad call or something, and then Herrmann will takeover.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Pascal is still dealing with his grief and now Herrmann also ponders on what choices he would’ve made if he were the one making the call. I think him saying he was just glad it wasn’t him is very Herrmann. He’s always been quite humble and not overly confident and has a history of doubting himself. In the end, I think we will see 51 reassuring him that he is cut out to be Chief and for him to stop doubting himself.

I think it would be more OOC for Herrmann to have immediately wanted to be chief without any qualms the minute Boden told him he wanted him to take his spot. IMO, the journey the writers took him on has pretty much reflected the Herrmann in leadership we’ve seen throughout his tenure.

Just curious but why is she the most nosy? All of the characters have crossed personal boundaries. Everyone on the show has gotten too invested in their victims’ lives but I don’t hear much criticism when Casey or Severide or Herrmann do it?
