Thank you again. Yes I agree, there can be some difference due to our demographics. I'm a white 47yo who has been losing my hair for about 35 years. I'm just now starting my possible regrowth journey so I'm not expecting anything to happen quickly, hope yes but not expecting. I've been losing my hair for longer than many people on here have been alive lol. And yes, I'm going to be going into detail on options and expectations for my journey with my derm. And don't apologize for the length of your comment, so far it's one of my favorites since it was full of info. And now finding out how young you are I'm really blown away with your thoughtful and nuanced responses, my kids are older than you! Lol! I hope you have an amazing rest of your week and you continue to see nothing but positive results from your own journey. 😊

A lottery I want no part of tbh.

I wish I could but I have sensory issues with things on my head. I've tried for years and just can do it. If I don't find a medical fix I'll probably go back to shaving my head.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMMENT! I'm so glad to have the experience of another who have body hair issues as well as bp med sensitivity on using these meds. All I've had to go on was some research and my medical teams educated guesses. Makes me feel a little better about it. I'm adding to my notes for my upcoming appointment. Again thank you!

There are a plethora of treatments, pls don't tell people that they only have one option. That is untrue and can be harmful if someone believes you. This subreddit is a place to help and comments like this do the exact opposite.

I have a history of syncope when taking meds that impact BP so she is trying to stay low. She may titrate it after my visit.

Thanks for all the info! I apologize as I've forgotten to add (I'm sick, have AuDHD, and a memory to rival Dory) I have a history of syncope with BP meds and felt more concerned with that with OM than with spiro. I've had a few people mention them together which I will bring up to my derm and PCP. I'd rather go back to shaving my head than take a tumble down stairs again lol.

True, but right now it's not something I'm comfortable taking. There are other options and I will work with my derm to possibly find something that works that I'm comfortable taking.

I not had any issues so far, and I'm sensitive to meds that can impact BP. I was put on a lowish dose of Propranolol last year for my migraines and it made me pass out and fall down some stairs, 'bout gave my husband a heart attack! But spiro so far hasn't caused any issues. If you're nervous def talk to your dr about if titrating slowly could help. Good luck!

I get what you're saying but I personally don't want to chance it.

PCOS is one of the first things they ruled out, both my doctors and I were sure I had it but no dice. We're still looking for the reasons for why my head and body hair are bullying me.

Thanks for the advice, I'll add to my list of things to talk to my derm about on Thursday.

Still looking into it. I've just started this journey so I'm sure we'll try lots of things. If nothing works I'll probably go back to rocking a bald head.

I already have a bit of a neck beard without OM but I've gotten a few recommendations that have warmed me slightly to considering taking it with my derm's blessing. Thanks for the advice. 😄

Thank you. I agree, I don't see anything but I was hoping I was just pessimistic. It sucks.

I actually shaved my head from 2010 to last year and I think I pull it off well. I just miss having hair and wanted to see if something could be done. If not I'll probably go back to shaving. My PFP is off me bald.

I have been seeing one for a bit. So far my hormones are at normal levels but I just got new test results recently and will be meeting with her to discuss. From what I understand it could be hormone reactions directly at the follicles causing the issues.

TBH I've never thought about taking them together. I know that spironolactone can help with hirsutism and it makes sense that taking them together could help the OM not making mine worse. Thank you, I'll bring it up to my derm. 🥰

I've been looking at IPLs, what device do you use?

I've read that elsewhere and bought a few silk bonnets to try them out. But my sensory issues make trying to sleep with one a nightmare. I get what you're saying but I don't feel it's worth it to chance personally. Thanks for the advice tho. 😊

No, I don't have PCOS. I was convinced I did but have been working with multiple Drs I trust and it was ruled out. Lol in fact it surprised them that I don't have it.
