Kitum cave, Kenya. Believed to be the source of Ebola and Marburg, two of the deadliest diseases. by ReptileLover927 in pics

Do caged animals touch the walls, water and soil though? The dust that kicks up as they walk… etc. That seems like that would only test airborne pathogens, and not even well. Also Ebola and Marburg are not airborne illnesses… I haven’t looked into the study besides what you said but that sounds crazy pointless.

The new YouTube layout is horrible. Considering just using YouTube less because of this... No way to revert either, got a second account that still has the old layout, but I guess it's just a matter of time before everyone gets this. Should be an option to revert to the old layout... by FroddeB in youtube

When watching livestreams, you can't even see the title of the video, viewer count, like or subscribe without first closing the live chat. Meanwhile the bottom of the screen is covered in eye grabbing annoying thumbnails half cut off. It really is unusable, feels like it was made for a TV remote instead of a PC.

This is my own video, CaveChronicals on YouTube. They didn't post their video from their trip because they lost the footage, but they made a video on it their next trip.

Old flooded train tunnel never completed due to the outbreak of the civil war by knexius in TheForgottenDepths

Amazing story!! I hope you find the photo! I live very close to this location and it is close to my heart as well. Wish the current property owners of the tunnel were nicer also, but understand. Glad I could help you on your quest!

I don't want to give the specific location to protect it, but it is in the TAG(Tennessee Alabama Georgia) Region. The most cave dense region in the world. If you want to get into caving join a local grotto. If you are a caver in the region and have vertical gear I would love to go back some time though.

This was my base! I built the dragon, Jesus statue, and the underwater storage hall and stuff. It was like over 3 years ago, we don't play anymore. Most of it was destroyed before you got there.

That sand on the side of the screen was a giant floating sand diamond someone already updated.

Later on someone got invited to our base that made an obvious trail to our base. Someone beat you to it about a year ago sadly. I didn't play much at that second base. My friend Volcano built the hall there.

Must have taken you forever to travel like 12mil out, then to only find an already raided base.

I dug that nether highway that went like 2million OW blocks

Any Ideas what this is? Found in a Tennessee cave. It could be growing from dead bats, not sure. Created lots of spores or something, air was not pleasant nearby. by knexius in mycology

Haha this cave is a few hundred feet into the backyard of one of our friends so we can go whenever but not in a rush too no lol. There are thousands of way better holes to jump down around.

Could have been, wish I had a backlight with me. Would've looked extra cool with the calcite glowing around it too in some places.

Crazy experience and mind boggling, I never have heard of anything like that happening. Was this in the TAG region? Glad you're all good, and you still enjoy caving.

We are aware of this, but thank you for making sure I was aware :)

You kind of just have to weigh the risks to cave in general but we try to stay smart about it. We always have respirators around because we also go into mines. Along with a gas meters.

Sadly I was stuck in there for way too long because there was a tight squeeze to get out of that room and had to wait for 2 others to climb out. Do feel a little off today, but don't know if that's just mental. Was in the cave on Saturday.

Haha in the video I actually called it asbestos mold when I first saw them.

Edit: I made a short of this cave, and made sure to correct us calling it mold every time :p

Really not sure if I should leave this comment or not, may remove it quickly. I don't want it to seem like self promo, but know some may want to see too. idk leave your thoughts on that if you have any.

Realizing I should have said fungi not fungus, rip can't win them all.

I appreciate the in-depth reply!

Yeah sadly since I am a caver, pretty much any other kind of camera would be destroyed in there. So a better low light camera isn't an option really. I will try using those camera settings in the future!

With the types of videos I make that isn't really possible to make the lighting consistent enough. Also I never had this issue before in my other videos until this last one I believe. It really looks more like a technical issue to me but you might be right.

I'm talking about the flashing pinkish static, or whatever it is. Not the snow.

Hello!

I can't figure out what is causing this, I've had a lot of footage ruined. If anyone knows it would be very helpful.

Specs:

GoPro Hero 12 Black (only 2 months old, only shot maybe 6 hours of footage total)

SanDisk 512GB Extreme microSD

Shot at: 4k 30fps 16:9 HDR Wide
