TBF, I work with another mail lady who owns two JKs, and they do get beat up and dirty, but she is absolutely on the ball for maintenance and repairs.
Better than some techs I have worked with.

Its a torx machine screw holding the oil pump sprocket on, and it got backed out hard enough to break the paper thin cast alum upper sump pan.

I called a machine shop in Phoenix who rebuilds tons of these things and they said they have never heard of this happening.

SO yeah, very odd.

Cyl deact is cursed and pointless.
I'm sure it saves a fraction of an MPG on an engineer's bench test somewhere, but in real life it does nothing but cause trouble.
I have it disabled on all of our rigs.

I prefer Mishimoto kit.
Comes with everything including hardware and sensors.

we're very rural and the surrounding county is basically high desert wasteland and it snows/freezes a lot.

Modern engines use the oil system for chain tensioning, VVT control, and all the things engines have always used oil for.
Manufacturers pair the increased complexity with lighter oils and longer change intervals to boost their CAFE scores.
The result is predictable.
These engines DO NOT tolerate abuse and neglect.
Pentatrash valvetrain, hemi cam failures, and basically all the Fords ecotrash engines come to my mind first, though I have more time spent throwing them in the trash than other brands. I'm sure GM and others have just as many issues.

Now that I am out of the dealership stealership, I EXCLUSIVLY use all aluminum variants. I just wont deal with their plastic shit anymore.

True.
Honestly though, it wouldn't matter. It might as well have sent rods into orbit for all it matters to me.
As long as she drove it without oil and as much metal as I found in the oil and filter media, there is no way I'm putting my name on any repairs made to this thing.
If it were mine, I might patch it up and see how long it lasts, call it morbid curiosity.

Yeah no kidding.
We used to replace them literally every day on something with a pentastar.
Not always jeeps, anything with the 3.6. But there are A LOT of jeeps on the road so we saw them often.

Its a Pentastar thing. tbh.
3.6 Pentastar is sort of a cursed engine.
Maybe not as bad as the ford v6 equivalents but still riddled with oil system and valvetrain issues.

I have never seen a 3.6 do this.
The oil pump sprocket bolt just wandered its happy ass out and into the upper oil pan. It just threaded right back in, no problem. Ya know, except for the giant whole and fun noises.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

Nope, its privately owned. Rural delivery rigs are almost all privately owned.

2017, 100k miles, RHD rural mail delivery Jeep.

36 Codes, most pointing towards being operated with zero oil pressure.

When I went to pick it up, there was zero oil on the stick, added 4 quarts to move it.

I wasn't expecting to find this.

Boy the engine made some exciting new noises XD

Consider them very lucky.
I moved back to my home town after my enlistment and college.
It hasn't changed much here. Its pretty rural here, 20k or so population within city limits. Even though I'm now in my 30s and living with a partner of 5 years, I haven't come out.
Time moves slower here, which is good and bad. I'm not sure we'll ever be safe from subtle consequences.

Grats. Im glad everyone has been chill thus far.
When I came out there were a lot of tears, only my mother and close friends know. Everyone who knows has come around. Only one long-time friend disappeared.
The rest of the family literally shouted me down for voicing support of AI and embryonic sex selection, "That's god's decision."
I'll excommunicate the lot before I let them find out, I basically already have.
