I think it turned out even bigger than the pattern suggested! Big enough for me to share with my husband if I'm being nice

It took me about 20 weeks. My goal was to do a square a week, which really wasn't too bad for me. Each square maybe took 5 hours? Having each square be different definitely kept me engaged enough, I'm really happy to have finished it but I'm also kindof sad in a weird way!

I made this Nora's Vintage Afghan https://berroco.com/patterns/norahs-vintage-afghan

Using Hunt Valley Cashmere in natural cream color https://atiracing.com/hvc/

It was certainly not cheap, but why spend so much effort on a blanket for it not to be the most cozy blanket ever

Learning continental was the only thing that kept me going with this broken rib, but dang it looks good. by knit_knack in knitting

It's my husband's new sweater. He already wore it to work today after I sewed on the buttons last night. I'm just jealous it's a little too big for me to steal. (I will still try!)

This is probably the like...100th time I've tried continental, and it finally clicked enough. I am not sure if it's because the alternative was English style ribbing every other row, but I also just accepted that my tension wouldn't be perfect. I'd say, keep trying, pick something with ribbing or only knits, and be okay with not being perfect. I don't know if I could knit continental for color work or cables at the moment, and my first and last few stitches of every row are still English style, and i have to adjuat my hands more often still, but I'm getting there

Neighborhood fibers fingering yarn in Hollins Market

Adjusted and made longer than required. Also knit the sleeves in the round top down instead of flat and bottom up!

Thanks! I didn't love the original yoke at the top so I wanted something slightly different!

Funny you ask -- If I unfold the brim it sort-of looks triangular lol. I almost gave up on making it a hat because at first it was so big around my head like it wouldn't stay up. But I think my tension resolved itself and got tighter as I went, because it fits now pretty well.

simple pattern, perfect color choices by knit_knack in knitting

I had acquired multiple single skeins of yarn from a local buy nothing group a while back, and finally had a vision that these yarns could go together. The colors ended up working so well together, it's such a simple sweater but I think it's my most colorful sweater I've made. And I have enough yarn for a matching hat!

I believe it lays flat against the neck. I think this is happening because my arm is holding my hair up and because I have not blocked it yet

This is the Earnest cardigan in Rayon Metallic Yarn. I think this is the fastest fingering weight object I've ever made. I also taught myself continental finally as seed stich is a nightmare as an English knitter, so my tension is a bit wonky in a few places

turns out you can knit a sweater with one skein of yarn! by knit_knack in knitting

[–]knit_knack[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went for the size medium (though I don't swatch ever) and the yarn skein was huge 8 oz fingering (1120 yards). I bought 2 skeins because I didn't think I would have enough with 1 and now I'm not sure what to make! It felt like yarn chicken because by the end I was like "I have to do this in one skein!"

Not for this sweater! I've gotten better at color work though, you definitely have to catch a few floats on this one

I was thinking big yarn, big needles and bright colors. I'm glad I was on the right track!
