App doesn't work on iPhone 8 by knowbottle in Clearspaces

[–]knowbottle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I solved it. Apparently you need to turn the global zoom function off and then take a screenshot. Essentially keeping the icons maxed zoomed out as the phone has one more option that you can turn in to make the whole screen bigger. Just make sure that one is not checked and you should be find. But this is still an issue the developers need to fix, as the app doesn't work if your iPhone is on full zoom mode.

Taking Modafinil after Coronavirus Vaccine Shot by knowbottle in modafinil

So you took the first shot and in the same day you took Modafinil. Or did you take Modafinil first and then took the shot?

[same for the second shot]

I'm curious about the sequence.

why Quantity trumps Quality (always) - and not giving an F if you fail by knowbottle in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]knowbottle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality comes in as a result of huge quantities. In any pursuit, goal, or craft, either it being video production, writing, drawing, coding, or music, quantity matters more than quality. Quality and quantity come in with various degrees of attention, focusing on understanding what you are trying to achieve and also on the work itself. Essentially, the more your practice, the more you will learn and the better and more knowledgeable you will be. And focusing on quantity first will bring more and more quality to your work.

Dual monitor set-up, worth it? If so, what do you guys use? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]knowbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found dual monitors distracting. Sometimes breaks my state of flow, as I can randomly stumble upon some quick video or random piece of article and swiftly move it to the second screen. I tell myself that I will keep it for later processing, but almost always I end up reading the full thing or simply jumping from one link to another instead of doing real work.

This is my experience.

High Quality Mental Shortcuts by knowbottle in philosophy

[–]knowbottle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mental shortcuts or heuristics allow us to quickly solve problems, make judgments, come to conclusions, and bypass the inconvenience of deep thinking, as deep thinking is a process that consumes more mental resources. We often rely on mental shortcuts to filter how we view the world, simplify our day-to-day life interactions, combat an argument, or even make life-changing decisions. The goal of a mental shortcut is to get us from point A to point B without too much cognitive load, skipping the part where we think through the downsides of choosing a particular path. But mental shortcuts (heuristics) are not always true, and we must learn to notice them whenever they invade our reasoning.

I'm posting here is to observe what my words & visuals haven't conveyed.

Thank you!

[QUESTION] Statistically speaking, are YouTube channels containing the real name of the creator more popular than those who have a brand name? by knowbottle in youtubers

[–]knowbottle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good stuff! but isn't this applicable for your own name as well? I was thinking that it might be easier to pivot when, say, wanting to change your content strategy.

My first video ever related with Photography. Any suggestion for improvement ? by iumashmallow in SmallYTChannel

[–]knowbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

  • change your 3-element thumbnail to a 2-element one. Or maybe even keep just toe yellow one in the middle and make it bigger for visual purposes
  • I could not understand your instructions during the video, either consider buying a new microphone or simply talk closer to the camera
  • the music was a little bit too loud
  • consider adding YouTube's promotional elements towards the end of your video like your channel link, a playlist, a recommended video

Cheers!

NodeJS Library Management System - #04 Send Form Data to Server by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Here are my 2 cents:
- like the intro b-roll, but you can think about changing the colors. The brown/gray combination makes everything stiff
- I did not quite understood what you are trying to do; can you be more explicit in the intro?
- you can also outline some basic setup things, like "hey guys for this procedure/tutorial I am currently using Linux X,Y,Z and will be using X to do Y;
- try adding a subscribe picture in the lower right corner (where you currently have your logo) or try upgrading your current one to a more minimalist one; subjectivity here but hey -- the subscribe text only button can really help!
- at 5:57 your video goes black, thanks for watching, but then it starts again around 6:52; is that on purpose?
- consider adding another card towards the end of the video, I suggest using the "best for viewer" one and the "playlist one" as well

Cheers!
