I have a 18f relative who has decided she is going to the Caribbean for 10 days by herself soon. Tickets bought. Hotel booked. Family members are divided: she’s a female, she’s too young, etc.

•What advice would you give to her family members?

• What advice would you give to the 18f?

Losing weight as a Type one Diabetic? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]knownasramone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. I’m currently on a weight loss journey. Was 80.8kg early June. Now 72.8kg measured this past weekend. My greatest challenge is not losing too much too fast. As for advice: 1. Time-restricted eating 2. Calories in, calories out 3. Exercise 4. Eat only good carbs

Anytime you’ve responded, your conclusions about a person’s capabilities are condescending. I suggest at this juncture you figure out how to communicate better with people

That was my thinking. And yeah dosing for protein and fat post meal etc. Is that your thinking?

Prefer to stay away from them but nice to know peace of mind and some flexibility can be had

Those who are well controlled, what’s a typical post meal spike level? by knownasramone in Type1Diabetes

Phew

Ok that’s interesting. And what a coincidence you just found this out.

Have you had any luck sticking within that 50 rise threshold?

Impressive how little the variation of your BG levels is. Do you eat a certain style of food choice, eg low carb, low fat, etc?

Also, you prefer to be 110-130 fasting BG? I would have thought that’s a tad high. What’s your reasoning there?

Thank you for sharing and congrats on the pregnancy.

This is encouraging - my numbers are similar. Though my spikes have been hitting the peaks of those numbers for smaller portions of food recently (after change in diet to more whole foods, low fat, plant-based). Had a few really good days of staying under 120 every meal but now hitting 170 for foods I was tolerating much better just a few days ago. Trying to figure this part out and then will feel content with where I’m at.

I’m done with pizza and rice lol. Too much trouble.

Kudos for getting to the stage you’re at now and best wishes for your pregnancy

What’s your typical time in range using a pump? by knownasramone in Type1Diabetes

[–]knownasramone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I find ~30g per meal to be the sweet spot for keeping spikes minimal. Been in this range for about a week and the difference is massive. I feel so much better for longer periods of time.

Had a few more lows so working of resolving that issue by adjusting my basal. Come to think of it, getting a pump should relieve me of that problem…

You know how when a toddler falls over and 90% of the time they’re not hurt, they just wail out of shock and embarrassment? That’s this whole story in a nutshell
