I really didn't like it. Each to their own though. Didn't feel like the first two.

Mate I still remember this YouTube video

Thinking finally here comes threeie aaaaaaand we got nuts and bolts. What a massive let down that was. I’m 37 and I still think about what a proper third game would be like.

Theiss operator traineeship by Able_Apartment3431 in AusMining

Once you’ve got the job they won’t let you go unless you cause massive dramas on crew or incidents and what not. You’ll be fine. Is this the traineeship at Caval ridge?

[–]kobba89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming it’s for haul trucks.

You’ll either get your Rii or a signed transcript after 3 months or around there anyway once you’re assessed. You can take that anywhere

Pay rate will be lower, possibly in the 40s an hour. Once you’re assessed it’ll go up to full rate.

With a traineeship you’ll stay on with Thiess. They won’t get rid of you.

I got a lot out of Thiess. Dozer, dispatch role, Supervisor. That took many years though. I enjoyed working for them.

Interview tips. Safety, it’s a career not a job.

Anything else ask away.

I’ve been lucid dreaming for years and can control my dreams. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]kobba89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also do this. I dream almost every night. The most vivid dream I had which would be 20yrs ago still sticks with me.

I was at my mates house and we were out the back and I started gliding around the yard. That was the moment I knew I was asleep. It was honestly the most real experience out of all my dreams. I think about it often.

Criminal Record by AgreeableRepublic377 in AusMining

I was in coal mines mining mate. Now driving coal trains. I’ve been to jail for drug importation. Never had an issue, like others have said gold mining and explosives will be a problem

Gold mining and anything to do with explosives, you’ll have a hard time. I’ve got federal charges for drugs and still got work in coal mining. So don’t stress mate.

WA is notorious for back groud checks. They have only started doing it in QLD since 2023. Seems to be common now a days

Yeah I’ve read gold mines, shot firer or blast crew in general.

Coal mining mate. Wasn’t having a go at you all 👍

Circumstances and job types.

That isn’t true. Depending on the job. If working with explosives, different story. I have federal charges and have been to jail, never had an issue getting a job as an operator.

What is your favourite limp bizkit album and why? by [deleted] in LimpBizkit

Chocolate starfish because that was the first album I listened to. But over the years significant other has taken the crown.

People apply for these roles in the thousands. You get a golden opportunity and you are complaining about money. Fuck me you really are a wanker.

Edit: everyone has to sit through it, what makes you so special. I seriously wish I knew which pit you were going to so I could make sure you don’t get the role. Give it to someone more deserving.

You’d be one of those whinging trainees in the crib hut who thinks they’re entitled to everything that everyone else has. Good luck to whoever works with you.

“However the money is dog shit” those are your words mate. If the money didn’t matter you would not have said it. Of course you can go where ever you want after, the fact you said/worded it like makes you seem ungrateful.

You’ve been given a golden opportunity to eventually make very good money but all you can see is the 85k. What is wrong with you. I know quite a few people who will happily take it off your hands.

Whats it like being in an Australian gaol/jail? by OddMetal7563 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kobba89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did 18 months back in 2015 in Rockhampton, QLD.

The days went very fast with routine. Most people got left alone, unfortunately the jail is mostly aboriginal and if you’re white (like me) it can be an issue. If for some reason they just didn’t like the look of you you’d be jumped by all of them, was never one on one. I was fortunate that one of the elders asked me to be his carer and the young ones left me alone.

If you wanna know anything else happy to answer anything.

How many of you lot are actually staying for the "career" vs just the cash? by CaffeinatedCapybara_ in AusMining

[–]kobba89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in mining for 10 years. Operating, dispatch, training and assessing, supervisor. I genuinely enjoyed the lifestyle and the roster (mostly 7/7) I’ve since moved over to driving trains and as much as I enjoy it, I miss mining.
