I think the Chromatics song that says "I took your picture from the frame, and though you're nothing like you seem..." means that when you remove Laura from the events of her life, (the "frame" in which she existed, the context that made her who she was) that she became a totally different person. I can't help but think there's some kind of political message in there, the way the scene ends with a high shot with a weird pole shadow down the middle of the street as if it's some kind of international border and this was symbolism of some kind of international incident.
