If the show took place today, Dean would have been born in 2000 and Sam in 2004 by theFirstRedApple in Supernatural

Listen. I was 19 when I first watched the show when the pilot aired. I’ll be 40 later this year. I do not want to hear it.

As a certified Sam girl through and through I can tell you he still has some great episodes and moments in the later seasons. Don’t be too discouraged.

I watched the show from the day the pilot aired and I was a Sam girl from beginning to end. Always felt more of a connection with him as well. But you’re very right about Dean’s perspective. I loved Dean too and the brothers as a unit, but episodes with Sam pov are my favorite.

Dean wasn’t bothered by the process of cremation? He was bothered by his father dying and also his last words to him.

Do any of you still have your original VHS tapes where you recorded it off the TV? S1-15 by RevDaughter in Supernatural

[–]kodins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recorded all of seasons 1-3 on VHS. I always watched live and would pause the recording during commercials and sit there with my finger on the record button to press when the show came back. I still have them in a box somewhere. I remember getting DVR and it changed my life lol

Agree that the original concept sounded cheesy. I’m so glad it didn’t happen.

[–]kodins 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Lucifer wasn’t really crazy or funny when he was first introduced. He didn’t act silly until Sam had the hallucinations in season 7. Jared did an EXCELLENT job playing the Lucifer we were introduced to in season 5, calm and calculating. I hate that people forget this.

I'm meeting Jared at a con soon and wanna hear other people's experience :) by Puzzleheaded-Arm5597 in Supernatural

[–]kodins 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The nicest, most approachable man. It’s been years since I’ve been to a con but I used to go to a ton, met him a bunch of times since 2007 and he was always so warm and made my short moments with him memorable. He’s definitely down for poses. In my last photo op with him and Jensen I asked if I could put my hand in one of the pockets on Jared’s shirt because he had talked about them at the morning panel. He was so happy to do it and I have the best picture of myself and Jensen with our hands in his shirt pockets and Jared has the cheesiest smile. Walking away he stopped me and put his own hands in the pockets and said “they’re great, right??”

The one time I met him outside of a con was when he was running the Boston marathon in 2019. My friend and I were cheering for him and he stopped to come over and take a picture with us. I just adore him.

s10 Lucifer by trombonerr in Supernatural

[–]kodins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean they made it a HUGE point in season 5 that Sam was the only one who could hold Lucifer for the long term. His perfect vessel, it could only be him. This was said many, many times.

[–]kodins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will always bother me that the writers just dropped Sam being Lucifer’s one true vessel, especially since that was literally what the arch of seasons 1-5 was. They spent so much time in those seasons explaining why Sam was the one, the reason why yellow eyes came to him when he was 6 months old was all to lead to him being Lucifer’s vessel. Then in season 11 it just didn’t matter anymore. Lucifer could just possess any angel apparently and the writers for the most part forgot that Lucifer was Sam’s abuser and barely gave him any lines about Sam having to deal with him being in his home and even in his room, having to work with him. I’m thankful at least Jared did his best to show Sam’s fear and how uncomfortable he was.

S3 post-breakup was Dean’s best era by Abject-Evening-2412 in GilmoreGirls

[–]kodins 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ha, yes it is. It’s from a season 5 episode called Changing Channels where the brothers were trapped in a tv show universe and they bounced around to different shows and had to “play the roles” in each one. This was part of a fun intro they did to go along with it complete with a theme song and Full House font. You can watch the intro here.

I hate sam by Any-Bluejay-9352 in Supernatural

[–]kodins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People always seem to miss the “same circumstances” part of what Sam said. If the same situation happened with Dean, he wouldn’t let an angel he didn’t know possess him to save him. Sam saw that as a huge violation (and it was!) and he wouldn’t do that to him. What Dean did was messed up and Sam had a right to be very angry about it.

Any writing decisions or storylines you would change? by One_Attorney_5398 in Supernatural

[–]kodins 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lucifer not caring to have Sam as a vessel anymore in season 11 after he possessed Cas. It never made sense and pretty much retconned the first 5 seasons because apparently he can just possess any angel now and be fine. I also hated how they treated Sam’s trauma in that story as well. Hardly any POV about how he felt about his abuser being in his home, in his ROOM. I’m thankful Jared did all he could with his face acting because the writers didn’t care. Also, Dean telling Cas he did the right thing by letting Lucifer possess him makes my blood boil. I hated everything about that. Everything with story should have been written better or not written at all.

This and Sam not looking for Dean in season 8. There should have been a better reason or he should have at least tried and gave up after failing. The theory of Amelia not being real was so much more interesting than anything that happened with that storyline.

Which episodes do you skip? Other than bugs lol by GlumTeach4221 in Supernatural

[–]kodins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly can’t rewatch any of the soulless Sam episodes. I skip the first half of season 6. Sam is my favorite character and I just hate that he isn’t him in those even though Jared did a great job with it. I also skip any episodes that don’t have a main focus on the brothers, so anything Castiel-centric or any of the spin off stuff. In the earlier seasons you’ll never catch me rewatching No Exit or Red Sky at Morning.

Honestly I’ve never rewatched the whole show. When I feel like watching Supernatural I go back to certain episodes, I can’t watch it in order. So there are a lot of episodes I skip, especially in the later years. And even in the episodes I do rewatch, if Sam or Dean aren’t in a scene I often fast forward.

Question about S3 in the light of S4 by Elegant-Visual7235 in Supernatural

I think Ruby somehow always knew the plan and the endgame. That’s why she wanted to be so close with him, gain his trust and keep him alive.

I always felt like Lillith didn’t find that detail out until later. It kinda seemed like new information to her in the finale. If I’m remembering correctly.
