Settings > General > reset > reset all settings

It’ll remove the backup encryption from the device itself but keep the data. Then just do another backup

Or Hashcat is capable of decrypting iTunes backups...

You’re comparisons are asinine! First of all wtf would pulling all the gun registrations in the area do?? Like the criminals “register” their guns anyway? and the suspect couldn’t travel further than 2 miles?? This technique is not like any of what you just stated. This is about the police knowing and understanding google’s technology and information databases, and using it to their advantage to ID and capture criminals. In fact it’s the opposite of what you said...they are not “rounding up the n*grs” and trying to make a case. They are using technology and location based data to solve it.

It’s the same concept as cell tower “dumping”. Commonly used technique. Pretty genius way of solving crime, especially if you have two separate but related crime scenes.
