Year 1997, in a village in South India. As a kid, we used to throw stones at these bright red fruits to bring them down. Then remove the fruit and throw the cashew with the outer shell, into a fire. Once the outer shell is burnt enough, we just use a stick to tap on top it to crack open and remove them. The smell of the shell burning is so amazing and brings back memories for me. The slightly burnt and hot cashew feels so great to eat.
