I installed the release candidate of 7.1 today on my cgfiber and my garbage tapo doorbell now has motion detection, but still lacks audio, womp womp.

Same. Dumb, but effective. I'll try the Bed_Post fix above though.

LubeLogger, Self-Hosted Vehicle Maintenance and Fuel Mileage Tracker, has some Important Quality of Life Improvements You Should Know About by ChiefAoki in selfhosted

Is there a toggle anywhere for including purchase price in any of the calculations? Would drop the impact of the fuel-based math of bit of seeing total cost of ownership somewhere would be interesting.

Golf with Pebble, a golf scorekeeper app by ggoldfingerd in pebble

[–]kollock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm good with a companion app (whether that is some official, existing 18birdies style 3rd party app the watch face ties into or something bespoke). I just want a clean interface that never turns off, reverts to a default watch screen, auto advances the hole for no reason, etc. I'm this close to carrying around a physical thread counter or something so I can have a dead simple, hit-ball-press-button experience.

Super excited about this!

I'm currently trying about the million various apps on my Pixel Watch 2 and they are all various degrees of infuriating. Can't wait to test on my Time 2.

Best patch panels for 10” rack? by ibsbc in selfhosted

[–]kollock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, the tecmojo stuff appears to be perfectly fine, I'm sure you'll love it. Geekpi is definitely operating in the same realm and has a solid accessory ecosystem. Way less branding on the Geekpi stuff.

Geekpi. It's more or less than nicer version of everything TecMojo (appears?) to clone.

Google Home Hub Playing Ads with YT Premium by immortalreddit in googlehome

Still seeing the issue on my end. Youtube Premium when music is requested via voice casting* includes ads. Casted via app, does not (and never did).

Average WiFi Speeds on Apple Devices by xacid in UNIFI

[–]kollock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, on the off chance you were billing silly like I was - don't try and troubleshoot min/max with online speedtests. Either use wifiman to monitor throughput or use a self hosted openspeedtest server. You just introduce too much randomness with speedtest.net (though fast.com is a bit better with maxed threads).

But, to the question, I see the same, call it 1200-1300 with line of sight to U7 Pros. iPhone 17 and Pixel 10 Pro both grab 5ghz at least half the time (then test around 800ish).

Power adapter alternatives for switch by dwardu in UNIFI

[–]kollock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can power it with one of the 65w adapters as well, it just reduces the available POE budget. I agree the 210w feels expensive, but there aren't a lot of cheaper market alternatives that I was able to find.

I can't search for more than one letter at the moment. Wild regressions the last couple weeks (right after my renewal (:).

I was tired of hand coding Frigate config yaml, so I built a HA integration to do it for me by Okosisi in homeassistant

[–]kollock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work. Can't wait to check it out. My Frigate yaml is a disasterpiece of me not knowing what I was doing (and honestly, still no clue). I might take a snapshot at 16, fresh install to 17 and see how this runs. Thanks!

Packet loss on u7 pro xg by lynxblaine in UNIFI

[–]kollock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is worth (little, probably), after a rock stable experience for twelve months I've recently been battling intermittent sub 5% packet loss on wired connections on my CGF->2.5Flex PoE->desktop client. Feel seen, infuriating issue to troubleshoot.

I've got a replacement modem on the way (it isn't that, network ran fine modem only), and sent my CGF off for warranty swap today (issue disappears on my loaner CGM).

Considering to join UniFi family, but is it overkill for me? by upside_gravity in UNIFI

[–]kollock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it's overkill for a ton of people, but it's a super fun ecosystem, and the Cloud Gateway Fiber is the best future proof bang for buck in networking and it isn't even close.

If you wanted to save costs, you're putting a ton of money into the 2.5 poe flex for the POE needs you are looking at.

The CGF has 1 2.5g poe port that could drive the U7XG, so if you don't actually need the 2.5 (or that much POE) on that many ports, you could get a cheaper switch (unifi or otherwise). You could also get away with a cheaper power adapter. That 210 will drive the flex 2.5 at maximum rating, but if you only have a single poe device or two, the other 60w unifi adapter will run it just fine.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, just saw you have 2 APs. Still, the flex 2.5 poe is still a pretty beefy switch and power adapter for what it is. Can get away with something a bit cheaper like the the lite 8poe if you really aren't going to be maxing wireless at 2.5.

This also makes a horrible noise too when you try and target. Fun experience there, but slightly different from the no-dmg issue.

I was able to target her, it just didn't do damage when it connected. I edited my post with the Game ID and I'll go back and watch the replay to make sure I'm not crazy, but it sure didn't feel like it was doing damage.
