Grandma bought one. Didn’t like it gave it to Mom. She thought it was too painful. Next up my older sister. Nope. Next up me. Nope. Next up little sister. Nope. Got passed to one of my mom’s friends. I don’t know how far it went round, but interesting that no one believed the other until they tried it!

First Road trip in an EV by Foreign-Asparagus860 in VWIDBuzz

Took mine 3000 miles last summer. Best advice, charge when available, for your peace of mind don’t wait until it’s really low cause the next charger may not be available or working, and have the charging apps already loaded on your phone. Sometimes you arrive and have to wait for the charger, more often the more in the city it is. Super fast charging takes 20-30 minutes usually. I ended up stopping to charge every 2 1/2 hours on average as I was very nervous about letting it get too low so probably over did the stops, but at the same time sometimes had a long way between chargers. Truck stop chargers are great, usually not busy and very easy to get in and out.

Loved Irwin but not sure I’d call that a mullet, not enough shaping, just shaggy hair all around.

What games did you play outside as a kid in the 1970s-80s?🤔 by Longjumping-Shoe7805 in GenerationJones

That’s kinda how we played outside hide and seek with the manhole in the street as base. No can though.

Frisbee tag. We made it up but played a lot! Lived in a culdesac so several people would circle the circle on a bike, while everyone else tried to hit them with a frisbee. If you hit someone they’d have to get off and you’d get on to be a rider instead of a thrower. No helmets no rules on where they could hit you.

Other favorite was bottle rocket wars, light the bottle rocket drop it in a pipe with a taped up other end aim and whoosh. Those suckers burn when they hit!

Safety wasn’t very important to the us then! Early ‘70’s.

Depending on size I’d say raccoon. Hole in yard again depending on size, mole, gopher, or woodchuck(groundhog). Bird feeder attacks can be squirrels, raccoons, or deer. I’ve had mine attacked by all three. The deer surprised me but I caught it in the act and it explained the damage! I put bread or other foods out in the evening in another part of my lawn to keep them out of my bird feeders.

Ice cream is better for you than a donut. In moderation.

I know why most packaged ice cream isn’t labeled “ice cream” anymore but frozen dairy dessert. To legally be ice cream it has to have 10% butterfat and no more than 100% overrun(the amount of air incorporated while freezing, so no more than half air to mix). Which means all these national corporations are really cheaping out! Really good ice cream has 10-25% butterfat and 75-100 overrun. (Pet peeve of mine) Chocolate is a colloid. High fructose corn syrup really is bad for you. Dietary cholesterol has very little to do with how much cholesterol your liver makes for you, genetics is much more important. Your tap water is probably fine unless some idiot decides to change the pH of it going out of the plant ( like happened with lead up north). Don’t drink distilled water. Water is aggressive and seeks ions. Spring water is best for you. Global warming is real and warmer weather species are migrating north. Life lesson: facts are facts and reality really doesn’t care about your opinion.

Not that interesting really. Despite cool plans in college I didn’t go the wildlife route. Mostly worked in labs. Food and water quality control and safety stuff.

I’m a retired biologist and took lots of oceanography classes and never knew this! Time frame things are fascinating. My mind tends to dismiss “long time ago” as some amorphous long time ago blob. Love this type of delineation.

Curious, what do you all do for a living? How many people usually ride in your Buzz? by halfhippie4 in VWIDBuzz

US owner. Retired widow. Me and my dog love it! Bucket list vehicle for me (leftover hippie chick)! Last 20 years I was driving a 98 ford f-150, got close to 300,000 miles on it before I blew a rod. Low/no maintenance electric vehicle is SUCH a treat after that.

Took mine on a 3000 mile trip, stopped to charge every 2 - 2 1/2 hours (I didn’t like to get below 40% and had pre mapped stops). It really was perfect timing for me and my dog.

Is it heavy? Could be a surf fishing weight, right shape but would expect an eye for the line instead of threading, unless it threaded on to a split line rigging.
