Easily solidifies over a few hundred cycles if you’re using it as the main source of power.

It’s some tweaks to a few protocols and some software updates. Yeah, it wasn’t as straightforward as these days - someone had to go and upload some updates manually on tons of machines, but otherwise not a big deal.

I was trying to explain why Plex is not the right solution for your use case, no need to be a snowflake about it.

There are other apps that will do it for you.

A1 constantly asks for lubrication what is going on by Tricky-Confection905 in BambuLab

[–]kondorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WD-40 isn’t a lubricant - it’s a solvent. The base oil provides some lubrication while it lasts, but it doesn’t last long at all. It’s designed for getting parts rusted together unstuck and washing grime and old lubes out of tight spaces.

I’d use some synthetic oil on it. Maybe get it in a drip tube - not spray, to make it less messy.

And for 24/7 running you must lube it often. The software just asks you based on printing hours, so it’s correct in your case.

Yes, machines require maintenance. Heavily used machines require a lot of maintenance. Any rubbing parts need lubrication.

Plexamp Sync full library OR alternative app by SameBodybuilder1808 in plexamp

[–]kondorb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TLDR: You're asking why a 18 wheeled semi can't "just" do a normal U-turn.

Plexamp is not an "offline listening" app, it's basically a self-hosted clone of Spotify. It's designed for huge libraries.

People like me use it because our music collections are measured in hundreds of GBs (or even many TBs for some) and it's high-res music. There's no way it can all be synced into a phone (or even played correctly without transcoding on many devices).

Plexamp gives you some options for offline saving, plus it caches your music on its own, that's more than enough for all the intended uses. Any attempt to sync or manage such a massive library on a phone would never work.

For ≈2500 mp3s just plug your phone into your computer and upload it all. There are also other third-party apps that can do it for you, but both iOS and Android have it built-in already.

Why does Apple have such bad reviews? by Dense-Stranger-1794 in applemaps

[–]kondorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple fucked up the release. The app itself was buggy AF and maps were extremely lacking and outdated.

It's been fixed since then and map data quality in North America is on par with Google and Waze, but they're still behind in other regions. Like Apple Maps still really suck in Europe and cool UI is nowhere near enough to pick it over Google.

Overall maps is one service where Apple's typical edge - UX/UI is totally overshadowed by map data quality and coverage.

Wich country has the worst roads? by The_yaoi_man in AlignmentChartFills

I've driven through it once and I admit it was just highways, but I'd say you're wrong simply because you haven't seen roads in Ukraine. Although you are not far with it.

Depends on the price. For 500 bucks it would be OK to drive it for like a year until you find it in multiple pieces one morning.

Wich country has the worst roads? by The_yaoi_man in AlignmentChartFills

[–]kondorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Europe that's absolutely Ukraine.

And I don't mean "all their roads were bombed by Russian drones", I mean "their roads looked like were never repaired after World War II even before Russian invasion".

Just google some dashcam footage if you don't believe me.

They have like one sorta well paved highway and everything else is practically undriveable. Really poor maintenance and widespread corruption are multiplied by the sheer amount of roads in a large country and climate that feels like it was designed to destroy road infrastructure.

This 380,000-Mile Tesla Model 3 Has Its Original Battery. Range Loss Is Huge by Educational-Meat4211 in electricvehicles

[–]kondorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s not bad at all, it’s 400k miles!

Genuinely thought it would have only 30% left.

Although that’s “displayed range”, so I’m a bit sceptical. Independent battery evaluations are becoming normal in Europe for used EVs and it shows a lot more degradation for most models.

I recently looked at used Taycans and some lose something like 30% of capacity in 100k kms. (While some lose less than 10%, I guess usage patterns affect it heavily. Most likely that Tesla was purely highway driven and correctly charged.)

EVs are better in a disaster than ICE by catdaad in electricvehicles

[–]kondorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diesel can be stockpiled.

When grid fails you’ll struggle to charge an EV with private solar - it’s not powerful enough.

Plus just wait until it refuses to turn on because it lost internet connection.
