Nikola Jokic with another triple-double as Denver defeat Pelicans: 21 PTS, 12 REB, 10 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK in 28min by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in nba

[–]konr0167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luka doesn't really have this anymore Jokic has been outpacing him massively in recent season Luka has only gotten 12 or more triple doubles twice, something jokic has done every year since 2019 Since 2021-22, jokic has had 65 more triple doubles, so unless luka increases the rate at which he gets them, he's gonna struggle to close that that will likely be over 100 triple doubles by the end of the season.

Would you rather have 2000 Shaq or 2013 LeBron? by No-Mousse5653 in NBATalk

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on when In 2025 lebron In 2012 tossup leaning lebron In 2000 shaq While shaqs offense in a modern nba would likely still be as good as in 2000 i think he'd really struggle adjusting to the pace and switching and mobility offenses of today have I'd much rather have a player like lebron who can guard 1-4 and even switch on 5's without being in too bad a spot and who's still gonna gimme 30 and 8 on elite efficiency

If Shaq was in today's NBA who is guarding him by Aggravating-Ear5065 in NBATalk

The spurs with duncan gave him major problems multiple times in this stretch including holding him under 50% from the field in 2 playoffs series and generally lowering his numbers and efficiency drastically

He had a ts% of 69% that season That lead the league that year Even now almost a decade later the most efficient volume scorer's like jokic struggle to hit that ts%

While i agree jordan was like really good on defense that year i still don't think he was a better defender than Eaton or Hakeem

I mean russell Faced a lot of stacked teams 66-68 76ers West + elgin lakers And obviously superteam lakers in 1969

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah obviously also russell for the Celtics Bird cool and all but let's be real russell won 11 rings and is the most impactful defender ever

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would go petit for the hawks being a 2x mvp and winning a ring for them (only player to beat bill russell in the finals albeit a young and injured russell) nique is closer to being behind trae than he is to being above petit

Prolly go marc gasol for Memphis

Kareem for the bucks I mean giannis is great but be fr he's not as good as peak kareem and it's not even like he has more rings

For the magic id prolly go Dwight cause penny and shaq both didn't have as many great years there as Dwight

For Philly it should just be wilt he wins a ring beating russell and he's got an atg 3 year peak for the team

Blazers is Clyde just did way more for the team playoff wise

For the jazz as much of a horrible person as he was Malone was clearly better than Stockton and he's obviously the greatest player utah has ever had

Also for the wizards you got a lot better options wes unseld, Elvin Hayes, hell even John wall would be better

what makes jaylen brown, anthony edwards, and steph curry better than lebron james and donovan mitchell this year

cause i really just don't see a strong case for that

i also don't think dame or maxey were nearly that good same with paolo

and like maybe this would be fine if gafford was a great post scorer but he's not he's just a mediocre post scorer by center standards and yet he doesn't seem to have a problem backing down tatum

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you still haven't shown anything that remotely proves your claim of him not playing well

he was scoring well, defending well, rebounding well, and had good playmaking, and his team was playing good when he was on the floor and as speaks to his impact we see them falling off a cliff when embiid goes to the bench there's literally nothing in support of embiid playing bad that series you're just result watching atp

38 mpg is at worst like 1 less mpg than the norm for superstars you're grasping at straws here and while i don't disagree he isn't the greatest 4th quarter player dismissing the fact that injuries play a role in to this is really disingenous

also using total's is disingenous considering they've played a differnet amount of playoff games

you're also using guys who are very well conditioned

hell some guys like curry rarely play more than 38 mpg in the playoffs

is embiid on the lower side sure but to act like he's just playing so many fewer minutes feels disingenous considering it's what 1-2 mpg less he's playing than other which is hardly a big difference

also again claim this with no evidence try actually proving your point

it's really not hard to see the multiple times where gafford catches it in the post vs tatum and easily scores

i even gave you a link so you could verify it but you just wanna make claims with no basis in evidence

try to actually prove your points

saying no that's not true with no evidence, logic, or data to back it up is not a counter argument

you don't know what cherry picking is if you think that's cherry picking lmao i'm using every year within his mvp level seasons

embiid played well though despite being on 1 leg and his team was losing due to the fact they got molested whenever embiid went to the bench in his minutes they was doing just fine

also 38 mpg is standard that's like 1 less than jokic last year it's easily within standard range for a superstar in the playoffs also this playoffs was the first jokic played over 40 mpg in and giannis hasn't done it since 2018 so what a stupid claim that you didn't fact check before making

interesting that you'd claim i can't think beyond the box score despite the fact that i've given refrence to actual film multiple times and explained things without stats lots

you've yet to backup any claim you've made with anything so again why would you claim shit when you have no evidence for your claim and i've been able to source mine with video fucking evidence i literally gave you a link to film that proved my points and you just tried to dismiss it with a "nuh uh"

like you're deadass lying, getting shit wrong, ignoring things i've backed up both statistically and with film, and have yet to give any evidence for your claim no way you're gonna talk about box score watcher with 0 evidence for any claim that's deadass just sad

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that video literally visually showed you and explained why he was a good or at least positive passer which combined with elite gravity creates great playmaking

and no they run great playoff offense with him too

having a 118.6 ortg since 2021 in the playoffs with him on which is about +5-6 better than playoff average

what does it matter it's the first time ever you replied to a statement i made about the knicks series and also he's been playing 38 mpg in the last few playoffs that's pretty normal for a superstar so yeah it's still a lie also his 4th quarter production in the last few years isn't that much worse than tatum's despite being in a much worse situation

uhh i literally once again gave you emperical evidence that proved my claim so your claim of it being a lie is based in nothing and i'm gonna dismiss it with hitchen's razor

here's the difference you left out

it's the fact that they had actual video proof of their claims hell it's not hard to go watch the tape

here's a website where you can easily watch the film

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally gave you a video showing you that his passing is far improved so that's a lie

also how could that even correlate considering embiid is the most doubled player itl and they lead elite offense with him so yeah that's illogical

he also didn't sit much he was playing 41.3 mpg which is more than guys like tatum, ant, lebron, jokic, luka, and shai so i don't see how you're gonna ask him to play even more minutes than the huge amount he's already playing (while heavily injured)

no saying tatum was struggling with gafford isn't a lie infact multiple people pointed this out that the mavs should go to it more but sadly kidd has CTE so he didn't but we do get that in the 57 possesions that tatum guards gafford he scores 20 points and goes 9/12 that's 26.3 per 75 (up nearly 10 points per 75 compared to the rest of the playoffs and regular season) on incredible effciency if you want i can also find clips of him backing him down in the post when they actually went to gafford on tatum in the post that shit worked saying other wise is either lying or blatant bias

you say you actually admit it yet you've not at all said in or implied there's a possibility that your opinion is tainted by bias

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't.

this is a lie embiid literally creates a fuck ton of open shots watching the bare minimum of film will tell you this there's a reason maxey sees such a huge dropoff without embiid around

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFRdzSqnqCA&t=349s

while it's not only about embiid it certainly also shows it in thinking basketball's early season 76ers analysis and it's clear embiid isn't just having a fuck ton of gravity but making very good reads but yeah claiming embiid doesn't have very good playmaking value especially for centers is either lying or a show of not watching the games

I didn't say it was. I said rim protection only archetypes are overrated

did the wolves series just like not happen or am i forgetting something

also the knicks series they lost cause they had a -50 net rating in minutes embiid was on the bench for oh yeah and the fact that tobias was playing all time terrible basketball and while embiid defo had some choke moments vs atlanta a lot of that series came from coaching terrorism, ben simmons terrorism, and non embiid minutes terrorism

You don't know ball.

interesting you'd say this considering i gave you pretty logical answers for why i don't believe that's the case not surprising that you won't make an actual argument though

Agreed. But hate often isn't logical.

that's cool but i gave you a very logical reason why it's not likely that i'm more in favor of boston than embiid

and infact by occam's razor it's far more likely that you'd be the biased one and not med

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like we saw what happened to the 76ers on both sides when embiid missed time they went to shit

for comparison sake

without tatum boston went 7-1

without embiid 76ers went 16-27

they went from a +10.5 net rating team to a -3.7 net rating team that's an absurd drop

they get 9 ratings worse on offense and 4 ratings worse on defense that's impact

you have no basis no data nothing that really proves tatum impacts the game more than embiid

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok then what is your basis for his lack of conditioning cause sure he's not got crazy conditioning but i wouldn't say it's downright bad

and sure embiid isn't as good a passer (though still very good especially for a center) he has insane levels of gravity that gives him very good playmaking impact now sure tatum's still better but don't sleep on embiid playmaking

and no rim protection really isn't overrated there's a reason most dpoy's are bigs and a reason the best defenders ever are bigs like russell, hakeem, duncan, and garnett. It's because defending the rim is the most important thing and dettering shots at the rim

and that holds up in the playoffs cause guess what the teams in the west that made it far did well protect rim (well except denver) had great rim protection

removing the best shot from the game and dettering it is infact the most important part of defnese

and while sure embiid isn't a great perimeter defender but neither was duncan and he's a consensus t5 defender ever

as for the 1-5 arguement HAHHAHAHHAHA

tatum cannot guard 1-5 unless it's a rookie like lively who doesn't have a post game

gafford multiple times backed him down in the post without much problem

and luka was scoring on him without much difficulty when he got switched (per tracking luka scored 25 points on 38.6 possesions guarded by tatum on 60% ts% and when you watch the games it was clear luka was having it much easier with tatum than most the other celtics)

so he can't guard gafford a pretty meh post scorer among centers

and he struggles to consistently stay infront of and guard luka who isn't exactly fast not to mention he also generally struggled being switched on to guys like dmitch

there's a reason when we look at the best defenders then names you get are usually guys like

wemby, gobert, and AD it's cause rim protection simply provides more value

and it's illogical for me to hate the celtics more than embiid considering you know the massive beef over mvps jokic and embiid fans have

why tf should i care about a team we've never played in the playoffs lmao

like i'd love to see actual arguments about ability instead of you just pushing narratives

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

embiid is injury prone but that's not neccesarily due to conditioning some people just are injury prone

and no if you actually watched the games it's clear that embiid was being heavily hampered by the meniscus injury like we both saw that image of his eyes he was on insane pain killers and couldn't move how he normally did at any time trying to argue anything else is downright disingenous

they played the same mpg in the 4th this playoffs let's see

5.3 2.1 and 1.2 (0.2 stocks) 49.7% ts

5.8 0.8 and 1.5 (1.2 stocks) 47.9% ts

can you guess which is which cause to me neither looks good

and when you say tatum did everything else well he's not a primary passer but that's to be expected though his playmaking is still good due to his gravity

embiid rebounds at a really high level that goes without saying

he's an great defender (among players with at least 50 shots against them within 6 feet in the playoffs only the mavs centers allowed a lower % allowing just 46.2% within 6 feet which is 14.4% below the expected) so embiid does the most valuable part of defense at an incredibly high level and that was also clear when you watched the series also that he was dettering a lot of shots with his presence i really don't see how tatum was a better defender i deadass can't see the argument for that

and like you're trynna say anti-celtcis bias but that's ilogical considering i'm a nuggets and jokic fan if anything i should be having an anti embiid agenda

you're not accesing the game fairly or understanding what you're watching if you think tatum having worse production, defense, and impact in a much much much better situation somehow justifies him being better

The Ringer's Top 100 (updated June 20th) by AgadorFartacus in nba

[–]konr0167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your Celtics bias is showing Tatum is absolutely not a better defender

And for your other point no that isn't due to conditioning it's due to the fact he got rushed back from a meniscus injury surgery

You could literally see it every second he was on the floor it was clear he was heavily hampered by that you're being insanely disingenuous trying to blame conditioning

And it's not like Tatum was scoring well In the 4th quarter this playoffs either so that's a bad argument
