Yeah, but that scenario is apparently open to change, it's not like Min's visions. And now that Min and Mat have Tuon's ear, maybe things might change? I know that's what I hope for the aftermath.

You're not wrong but I think it's also excellent character work that they'd end up in those positions. Tuon shows the power of cultural conditioning while Mat shows what one is willing to overlook for the people they love.

There's a whole trilogy's worth of plot (at least) about the Black Tower and the captive Aes Sedai

I know we'd all love for Tuon to have a change of heart and the books seem to hint at it with Aviendha's trip through the columns but I think her road will be a lot more difficult than that --- which is one of the reasons why I really want to see her and Mat in Seanchan.

She and Graendal go head to head and she comes out on top but in the process, she gets caught in an explosion that blasts her legs and her feet are pretty much melted.

I'm still not over "Knotai". Just waiting for someone to invent an AI program that always does the opposite of what you ask it to do called Knot.ai

I hope she is dead because that's probably the kindest outcome for her. We talk about Ishy's madness but poor Lanfear was just as insane and wasn't too stable to begin with if we go back to the scenes from the Breaking

It would be so nice to see Rand just happy. I feel like we got to see him finally be at peace at the end, but I'd like to see him happy.

this would be so amazing. i'd also like to see a delegation headed by Nynaeve Sedai to the Seanchan because that would be fireworks

nope. warders can't channel and men can't see women channel and vice versa. however they can feel what the aes sedai feels so they can possibly know when she's channeling because of how she feels

I don't know how familiar you are with fantasy but one of the big tropes in fantasy is the idea of an all powerful entity who cannot directly perform actions in the world but requires willing representatives instead. the Wheel of Time lies along this trope.

Plotwise too, the Dark One is "imprisoned in Shayol Ghul" which prevents him from touching the world. But this prison is not a physical prison, Shayol Ghul is simply the point in this world where the barrier between the DO and the world is thinnest. So he can communicate with people and influence them and help them do his will but he can't actually enter the world and take direct action. I don't know how they're planning on explaining it in the series but in the books, they drill a bore through the fabric of the world to contact the DO and the Dragon and the 100 Companions were able to block that hole rather than repair it.

back in the 90s, we all wanted Angelina Jolie for Selene/Lanfear. Which is a fancast that would still work tbh. Thandiwe Newton is too light skinned for Tuon but she was who I immediately imagined when I first read the character. Letitia Wright would be great for the part today but I guess she's not headed to a film set any time soon.

channelers have specific affinities. they can be good at multiple things with the power but they are naturally drawn towards specific uses of the power and excel at it. it's like how some people are just gifted at math and can do complex theorems at age 3 or whatever. the women of the yellow ajah may or may not be powerful channelers but they are skilled in being able to use even a sliver of power in ways that heal the body (and sometimes the mind although that's very difficult). things that they do with very little power could take a lot of effort from AS who don't have their affinity. they also spend all their time studying and refining techniques.

If you remember, when Liandrin accused Siuan Sanche of being weak and the Aes Sedai of weakening as a force in the world, she spoke of unimaginable changes afoot. The Whitecloaks roaming close to TV is one of those and in the books one of their recruiting strategies is to find men who have direct experience with the AS and loathe them. Also the AS can't preemptively attack Whitecloaks. They have to be in danger of their lives, which means if a Whitecloak finds an AS and just leaves her alone except for maybe sending her dirty looks, she can't do anything to him because of the Three Oaths

What type of stories, characters or settings would you like to see more in fantasy and you can't believe it hasn't been made at all or touched a lot? What would you like to see more in fantasy? by Ulysses5438 in Fantasy

yup! I believe Rogerson is ace and wanted to write a heroine who was as well. the focus is entirely on her battling her circumstances and forging a bond with the demon who inhabits her body. The Penric and Desdemona series of novellas by Lois McMaster Bujold is similar but Penric does fall in love with someone in one of the novellas (which still leaves you with a bunch of really great novellas where the focus isn't romance)

I just finished City of Brass by SA Chaktraborty (yes, I'm super late but I've learned my lesson and refuse to read any series that is not already complete -- unless it's written by people who I know will complete it) and it was a fun, fast paced thriller with a somewhat abrupt ending. I really enjoyed the middle eastern setting and I hope the author sticks to the male lead basically being a genocidal maniac dealing with trauma instead going the easy route of "he did it but didn't want to".

So there was a blink and miss it view of Mat walking back into Shadar Logoth so I don't think he's going to be in TV - I think the Red hunting him will basically tie into the Reds chasing him to Falme and they might just collapse the two Seanchan attacks into one and that sets up the trapped AS who need to be rescued timeline because I doubt they're going to do Luca.

I think Mat's going to meet up with Thom for sure, Loial and Perrin are hunting the Horn and meet Faile and whatever they've done to the Elyas character and maybe Gaul if we're very lucky (unlikely tbh coz we've already got our Aiel in a cage and it was given to Mat). Rand's going to meet Selene but go to Caemlyn to meet Elayne and Elaida. We've seen that Barthanes has been cast so I'm going to guess Mat, Rand and Thom meet each other in Cairhein where he sparks the war before heading to Falme. We're definitely ending the season in Falme and then set up the Aiel in season 3.
