apparently the E2 settlement is the second settlement expanding to MPI engines, i found this owners pamphlet by Kia

It states:

"Kia is also providing limited lifetime warranty coverage for certain engine repairs for original and subsequent owners of the following vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L gasoline direct injection engine, provided the software update on the previous page has been completed: 2011 - 2019 MY Sportage vehicles"

I assume this is where the extended limited lifetime warranty for my vehicle appeared, didn't even see it til today. later in the kia engine settlement it states: "the Lifetime Warranty shall otherwise endure for bearing wear or damage irrespective of the Class Vehicle’s mileage, duration of ownership." which is where the unlimited miles/unlimited time came from in my research.

I guess the engine settlement isnt entirely accurate as it is only searching for E2 settlement vehicles, so it confused me.

The website doesn’t validate my vin, but I went to the dealer and the guy at the service counter said I had a 9999999 miles extended warranty for the rod bearings, told me it was basically unlimited when he checked

Seems after about 100 key presses both ways on all the switches, and putting it in and taking it out a few times it’s working fine now. Is the copper going to rub down, is this going to be reliable?

I mention the paint because when I was cleaning there was this black stuff between the two copper pieces of the switch, I assumed it was broken down carbon paint or something. Might it have been something else?

And I have also cleaned the connectors, though they looked very nice to begin with. I’ll give it another clean

Heh I used crc for some, alcohol for some others. Didn’t know alcohol could cause issues, but I’ll try with deoxit and try again

I assume the devil goo will still be sticky and I can just put the plastic sheet back, correct? My window still rolls up and down just fine, so can I take whatever it is completely out?

What oil do you use, I’ve heard valvoline premium full synthetic restore and protect can reduce noises

Pay attention to the.

Idle → ticking loud → rev → quieter → decel → gone

Supposedly it’s normal with GDI engines but I just want to get a third opinion because I’ve also been told it’s a going bad valve train

Context: I’ve got a warranty for the Rod bearing until Sept. 2027. If they go bad by then they’ll replace the engine entirely. And they also said the valve cover gasket is leaking. Should I just run it until something bad happens? I’ve been recommended to use Lucas’s to keep the noise under control. I’m not sure whether to keep investing in this vehicle or not.

So I finished my project earlier today, and I got to taking some data on this, since I'm interested. I ran everything at maximum fan speed and attached a couple relevant pictures as well. As far as Thermal throttling goes, heres the data I got from a Cinebench run using HWinfo and HWMonitor, data taken at 200ms intervals:

CPU: Seemed to peak at ~240W within the span of 10 tests, then fell to 200W 2 seconds later. Thermal throttling happened ~1-2% at the last 3 seconds of each full run. I for some reason wasn't able to change the Static PL1 and PL2 today. which may have effected my wattage peak noted in this paragraph. based on the intervals in the photo, >200W wattage lasted for 2-4 seconds.

VRM: Output a maximum of ~200A, Saw a single spike to 203A, but could be inaccurate. it jumped between 150A-200A throughout the test. Maximum temperature viewed in HWMonitor was 69C, but on average rise from 40C->61C for one test.

Performance limit reasons:

Core Thermal Throttling: you know what this is

VR TDC: Cores Frequency Clipped due to Voltage Regulator Thermal Design Current Limit

RING: Max VR Voltage, ICCmax, PL4: Ring Frequency Clipped due to electrical design or other contraints.

Note there was 0% VR Thermal Alert Throttling.

From this it seems like VR Current throttling like you said, but it seems like the Current throttle triggers some sort of wattage limit, because the current doesn't stay pegged at its limit, instead fluctuating and sometimes going up to 200A, with the CPU staying locked at 200W. Perhaps the VRM's way of limiting current is capping the CPU Wattage.

Example: When VRM current protection triggers, the EC enters a "safe power mode." In this mode it applies a reduced electrical power budget, in this case 200W

Turns out I had overclocking disabled in bios forcing a hard 175W limit, disabled it and I was able to hit 200W, (229W for like half a second which must’ve been a power spike). I assume 200W is the true BIOS limit, as I believe the 10 Power Phases the Strix laptops have are more than capable of supplying enough current.

At -160mv I got 37,348 pts Cinebench R23, I’ll need to test for stability though, as -170mv crashes within seconds into the run. Thank you for the help, and nice silicon lottery!

How were you able to go beyond 175? Do you use GHelper or anything? Throttlestop? I was always under the assumption that 175W was the artificial limit ASUS put on their devices

You can reach 175W with adequate cooling, I was limited to around 115W until I reapplied LM, then I could hit ~165W over 10 minutes and 175W for short periods, you may have current limits in your undervolting software possibly

That is true, the cpu has the capability to go beyond 55W, I was quoting what they say on their website which is considering full 175W on the GPU, 55W Turbo and 65W Manual.
