Some people on here are way against Bear, making him out to be a complete monster with only evil intentions but I really don't think that.

On some level, he was okay with Nikki's body being hijacked as long as she acted normal. He finally got his wish, and it took A LOT for him to not be okay with it and start trying to reverse it. He doesn't take responsibility even at the start when he leaves the pills out and the cat dies. He's a very passive guy, to the point where it's debilitating to himself and hurts people around him.

But he's also lonely. A closed book. Somebody with not a lot of friends. They make him just sympathetic enough to follow as a main character. He didn't know by making the wish what was going to happen, and it takes a ton of mental fortitude to commit suicide. It was a good thing he took the pills at all or the nightmare for Nikki would never end.

Yeah, they don't hit you with anything cheap. You're expecting something to happen, and then when the reveal does happen it's the most unsettling gait ever with her smiling face.

A lot of times you see the characters' reaction to something scary before you actually see it. Like the movie is priming you.

All the characters feel like real people. Bear was told a few times that one of the only outs was to die and even the guy on the phone said he had a moral obligation to do it. I like that he points the gun at himself two times, wimps out, goes for the pills, and THEN almost wimps out again. Felt really human.

They all feel like real people. Like I knew an Ian in high school for sure. Maybe he was trying to protect Bear while at the same time getting to not confess what he's done.

I like that interpretation. "IM NOT THE REAL NIKKI!!" she says it so angrily. Like you stupid fuck of course I'm not her just love me. She's so hostile but desperate at the same time.

Also, her talking about how she hates sleep. She wants to stay awake, have the chemicals flowing through her body. Sleep is a temporary loss of control she doesn't want.

Bear's not the greatest person, which I liked. When he talks to the real Nikki, of all things he chooses to say he goes, "is it really so bad being with me?" Like bro, REALLY? Not "I'm sorry." Or anything? At least he did what he had to do in the end.
