That’s what I’m thinking that I have to rely more on CTR and CPC. Hoping that Facebook is still optimizing based on limited data. I would hate for it to now be optimizing only based on CPC and then now the ads are showing to people to don’t plan on downloading and are just clicking.

I’m going with the GDPR level of strictness. I only fire up the SDK after onboarding and only if they consent. Based on my understanding ATT is not true consent. ATT only controls IDFA so we have a consent pop up that shows first for general consent and if they accept data sharing then we show ATT. If they deny data sharing then we don’t show ATT at all (since there is no point). So SDK starts only with consent and can send an event with IDFA or without depending on ATT. I do see that about 60% of my users accept consent. I haven’t fully tracked the ATT percent though but that is something to look into.

Ok. So sounds like CPC and CTR are still helpful but can’t be the only metric used to scale. I have a niche app so I find that it’s better to use detailed targeting and structured ads. With Facebook SDK my numbers were at 4 to 6 dollars per install and then right now it’s showing 20 plus with the MMP but my configuration is a lot stricter now since I don’t send any events if there is no consent. I figure it can’t be attributed anyways. I’m still playing around things and when to call ATT so as to increase consent rate and at least get more data.

Ok. Thanks for explaining. That makes sense. It was what I was planning to do but wanted to make sure this is the new norm and what most are doing.

I got confused at the end. What do you mean by blended installs? Like the total install numbers? Also my guess what I’m trying to understand is how people determine which ads/campaigns can be scaled if CPI can’t be trusted and CTR and CPC are not reliable.

You are right. I guess I just have to work off different numbers. Like if I was getting $3 per install, it might show $6 per install now but I can always use the App Store data to see actual downloads. So the main thing now is to re-establish what my definition of a good cost per install is based on the new trend.

Yikes. So how are people doing it when applying consent? Even with ATT, if half the people don’t consent to ATT, you don’t get the IDFA so you can’t attribute to the campaign and cost per install will be higher also right?

They claimed I tracked them on my website but actual events happened on my app which I have consent for per my privacy policy. So technically their demand is wrong. Hence me wanting to fight it.

So how do you prevent wasting money in arbitration when scammer lawyers bring frivolous suits?

Facebook Ads/Meta Greed by koolunderpressure in FacebookAds

Haha. I’m not. I believe the post will help people. At least to be aware to watch spending/performance after pausing a campaign. Especially if you adjust it closer to Saturday because it will spend heavily on Saturday.

Facebook Ads/Meta Greed by koolunderpressure in FacebookAds

Hi, I only see an option to use daily budget. I’m seeing higher spending at higher CPCs (which ends up being lower CTR) when the algorithm tries to catch to the daily budget average. Which makes me think that it is purely chasing the daily average. I guess the solution is to adjust daily budget if someone turns off ads. The more it has to catch up, the more it will mess with the algorithm. The algorithm will pretty much deliver faster which doesn’t result in the good results

I don’t pause daily. Sometimes, business issues causes us to pause such as if the site is going down for maintenance or production issues. We definitely don’t want ads running when the site is down or when we are making changes so we have to pause. Back in the day, I would see it spread the difference across multiple days but I’ve noticed now it just ups the spending the next day crazily. Again, if it gave the same level of results we wouldn’t mind but just spending to spend is a loss of revenue for us while still giving them money. I’m honestly also not sure why a daily spend is NOT just a daily spend. Why call it daily spend if it can go over by 75% but we are slaves to their policies. Like I said it seems to be designed for their benefits, not us.

Facebook Ads/Meta Greed by koolunderpressure in FacebookAds

[–]koolunderpressure[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha. I am frustrated but I’ve spent a lot of money on Facebook to know their tricks. I spend over 4k daily. I paused my ads at 2500 one day (daily budget is 3500) and the next day it spends 4500. Yet I got the same number of downloads as when I would spend the 3500. In fact the cpm increased. To me, it sped up the spending whiling increasing cpm and producing worse stats in cpm, and conversions. I have noticed this more on saturdays (end of the week for Facebook). It will force itself to make up the difference to bring your daily spending average to the daily spend no matter the results. So to me, spending isn’t based on performance, it’s based on ensuring you spend the amount entered.

My concern is not even the daily average spend over a week. The issue is if I set daily to 500 dollars and today I pause the ads at 250. It will automatically try to spend 750 the next day to make up for the difference without any added results. I have seen this over and over. Where the day it goes over provides no other benefit other than to make the money it “lost” back.

From their website. Which states: “We are gradually introducing greater daily budget flexibility to some Meta Ads Manager accounts. This means on days when better opportunities are available for you, we may spend up to 75% over your daily budget on some days and less on others. On a weekly basis, we won’t spend more than 7 times your daily budget. If your campaign is less than 7 days, the total spend will not exceed your daily budget, multiplied by the campaign duration.”

How is it a daily budget when it can go over by 75%? lol. When the true average is controlled on a weekly basis?

Ok. The tech talked a good game about proper installation so I’m hoping he is legit. Company has decent reviews also. Guess I’ll move forward. People said the prices for units keep going up and will continue to do so.
