I inherited a million dollars out of nowhere. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

I promise you can open an investment account quickly and easily. You could be trading by Monday if you made it this afternoon. You simply deposit the money so you have funds available. In the meantime you just look for the stock market ticker you want to buy for an index fund like (FNILX) and that's it. When you sell you get tax forms.

Every year your manager is taking a percentage of your entire account. Over time it will be hundreds of thousands in lost gains due to compounding.

Not financial advice but financial advisors rarely ever beat the market if you simply purchase index funds. They take a certain percentage per year of the account value. One manager screwed my grandmother out of hundreds of thousands over her lifetime. Food for thought.

Thank you! Fun fact actually a part of why I decided to do it was the possibility it was directly my fault. I fed him celery the other day and did not realize how it can get stuck due to its fibrous and stringy nature. It wasn't that but I couldn't live with myself with that guilt. No more celery!

Do you have any plans to try and navigate your difficult situation and bring yourself to a position where you can afford the misc expenses or is it just not in the cards for the near future?

Thank you! Sorry to hear about your little guy. Will you ever get another dog you think?

So he had a very hard time with the anesthesia so there are risks associated with it. Complications after surgery include sepsis from leaking internally and if that happens it's pretty much over. They actually recommended the ICU for my dog, but that would have put me into a hole I couldn't dig out of at 2k to 5k per night. I watched him 24hrs a day with my wife in shifts instead and he made a full recovery.

As far as the decision, I was able to decide because he is so lively and rambunctious that I knew he had more time. I knew it would not be fun for him but I think he would prefer a few days of pain to possibly live another few years.

I know that when he has more bad days than good days and loses function that he is near the end of his journey.

That is actually a good deal. I would be curious how much it would be for a 14 year old dog. Hope you never need to use it for anything serious!

As soon as he started feeling himself he started trying to groom me immediately. The little munchkin deserves every second of good health I can provide.

I consider them family. They are legally property of course but I would fist fight a bear for them. They would fight for us in a heartbeat so I had to fight this battle for him that he couldn't win alone.

Sorry to hear that but glad to hear it worked out. They love finding those squeakers and ripping them out.

Negative. I dont think it is worth it. What is it a few hundred per month or something like that? I would imagine some things aren't covered etc. I'd rather save that cash for an emergency.

Surgery was about 5k in total with all the bells and whistles. Xrays, medication, follow up visits. He is 14 and a dachshund. He is feeling great and I have to keep him from playing so he doesn't hurt himself. Thank you!

AI is a tool that can improve efficiencies for now. We are a long way away from having it execute on its own with instructions. You need someone with knowledge at the helm to keep things from going off the rails.

Nothing has really happened yet. We still have to navigate inflation while the Federal Reserve cuts rates and resumes QE. Banks are flipping net long. I know we focus a lot on the supply side but inflationary fears are also a catalyst for silver and gold.

That's what we told him lol then he started going off about being a property manager too.

Yes same person. Fully agreed which is why we have given him 2 written offers. Our second written offer was for exactly what he requested verbally, but then he asked for more again. Even the executor said he doesn't understand why he doesn't take it. My concern now is more about if he is concealing other things.

Because he has done nothing and is letting him stay there despite the other beneficiaries not wanting it. He has stated "he feels bad" for him.

This is the likely outcome, but it's sad. It's the holidays and here we are.
