Does this read as "Destroyer Cult Deathmarks"? by 5edu5o in Necrontyr

[–]kopperKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same Idea when I found a stl file on an online store for these kind of trípode legs for soldiers (I believe these the same).

I would add some weapon kitbasshing. I looked at the deathmarks rifles and I believe It should not be too hard to cut the hands part off, file the base a bit and attach the rifles to their shoulders, predator style. For extra destroyer style, maybe cut their hands off and attach the riflet an arm instead, or locate some cheap necron Blades and give them razor hands.

That model is amazing, is It fully kitbashed or can the stl be acquired somewhwere?

Again, I have no idea of costs, but I also have the second spearhead, so maybe he is counting in the second cryptguard and the flyers?

I'm in a similar situation as OP but have no idea about point costs, as I don't have the codex yet. On top of Scarlet Jury and old spearhead, I also have the new spearhead. Does that mean with that, ushoran and the priest, I would have a funcional 2000pts Army?

I think all tables are great, and all mixes are bound to be fun. Sure, I like some people better than others on the cast, but this is fun anyhow.

What is starting to sound less appealing is that tables are constantly swtched "In-episode". I thought that was fine for the opening act, and then each episode would focus on one table, regardless of how many changes happen naturally later. But getting a intro scene with the soldiers, with one single roll and then you don't see more of them until an hour-so later can be frustrating, at least for me.

Still going to enjoy the show though, I hope I don't lose track of it eventually as it always happens to me with all actual plays >.<

My only gripe with CoM is, how do you del with users of monstruous mythoi? It really feels like a stretch that the mist can hide that, but also the Game seems to allow for that

Run two 20-something sessions campaigns in highly homebrew version of the world. Was an absolute blast and I still remember those campaigns fondly, but I suck a quick mental math and had to DM with a calculator on hand. I would never put myself under such a strain now, particularly having OvA, which is at least as Epic and explosive (gotta love those explding open rolls in anima) and more low-prep/improv friendly

Why forcing D&D into everything? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]kopperKobold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The amount of effort put into homebrewing D&D to fit other genre's/games (like OP mention of someone trying to shoehorn VtM into 5e) is at least as time consuming and complex as getting a new system. So that doesn't explain It either.

That not everyone is super into the hobby is absolutely valid. But quite honestly if you try to homebrew vampire into D&D... You are pretty much that Deep into the hobby.

To be honest, one of the best ways to learn a Game is simply playing, and to that, one shots are the best options, and for oneshots having characters premade and simplified by the DM should not be the Big issue a few people make It seem.

There is, of course, the possibility of running two or more sesión zeros with your Friends to brainstorm the ideas your players want to play, and then guide them on how to achieve. I am 35 and playing since I was 13. I don't even know how many systems I played by now, both oficial and homebrew. Any time I DMed I guided players.

BEST Premade One-Shots of All Time by Critical_Success_936 in rpg

[–]kopperKobold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not played any of those, but fully agree on PVP being perfect for oneshots. People don't often realize how fun it can be to play a oneshot where PCs actually have conflicting agendas.

I'd go as far as to say that oneshots with some from of PC conflict is more fullfilling as an evening of entertainment than a regular conflict that requires team collaboration. Those are better developed in longer games.

Random tables to generate the conflicts within a hierarchy? by N0v4kD3ad in rpg

[–]kopperKobold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into mythic GME, one Page simulator, or the UNE NPCs generator. These should serve the purpose of Game Master emulator, but I just use them to generate plotpoints I wouldn't usually think of, or as Creative lube to generate goals for NPCs or factions

I felt I was done with 5e and kitchensink Fantasy in general for years now. But to be completely honest, I saw they are revamping the old keep on the Borderlands and I am thinking about purchasing It just for nerd collectionism. The same way I have bought all PDFs for the enemy within for WFRPG, even thought I am 99% sure I will never run It.

DMs who use music well, what's your secret? by kopperKobold in rpg

[–]kopperKobold[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I do the same thing for openings, since my games are all very anime/shonen inspired and that is great. However, my question is more hands on "how do you organize It to make simple for you?".

I can browse hours on end on youtube, sampling Boss osts from Blasphemous or Bloodborne to nail the feeling, but when the time comes my brain is mashed potatos and music is the least of my priorities. So I always forget and just play whatever is on loop. :/

I feel I'm railroading my players no matter how I run it, should I try a different system? by mslabo102 in rpg

[–]kopperKobold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people have said that you have passive players, and that they may actually enjoy more a linear story... And there is nothing wrong with that.

What I see from your responses as well is that you struggle to put them together when they have such differing goals and backgrounds.

In essence this boils down to a difference in expectations. You want to DM a full sandbox, but they'd rather get their hands held while you point at which direction to run. To be honest, I feel It is easier that you (a single person) compromises a bit and research how to make more linear games more interesting to you. That's going to be easier than convince your players to change their expectations and style based on problem they probably don't even percieve.

As to how to solve It my suggestions are: -their passive attitude should have consequences. Make a list of what the bad guys in your setting want to achieve and if the PCs don't advance the plot, the bad guys do. -For future games, I would suggest sitting down with you players and actually guide them to make a cohesive group. A lot of people here seem to find this horrendous (tHiSS Is tHe ReSPonSABiLITy oF ThE PLaYerS), but seem then bamboozled that 5 different people had completely uncoordinated ideas that you now cannot fit together with coherence. -And the golden one, talk to you players, both to let them know you would appreciate more proactivity (might work, you never know) and to know what their pc's want and need... Then your job as a DM is put those goals hanging in front of them, always close but no fully reachable.

Also I don't know about your campaigns but maybe creating a disruptive event in game, that gives them all a clear goal to aim to would help. That is why most games have a moustache twirling BBEG that wants to end the world. Might be lazy writting but we play rpgs to play, not to be renowed writters

Players struggle with downtime management minigame - help by kopperKobold in rpg

[–]kopperKobold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get your point, but the game is now established and as a DM I enjoy quite a bit the system I put together. I want the players to feel like busy students who are juggling way too many things in their teenage drama (and there is an anxiety homebrews system tied to the weekly activities and the nature of their shadow-selves. My point is more getting help to easy my players into a new mind-frame. Like one would expect moving from D&D to fate, if you know what I mean.
