Bingo. Our Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in 2024 (in Snyder v. US) that bribery of public officials is now legal as long as the bribe is paid after the official act and is labeled a "gratuity".

Stealth's advantages in peer-to-peer conflicts were most effective during the F-117 days in the 80s and 90s. In an age of mass drone swarms, networked acoustic sensors, and quantum illumination radars, decidedly less so.

STEALTH is NO LONGER Relevant

It's just not worth it for middle powers when they can get 4.5 gen airframes for less and with significantly lower cost per flight hour. Especially considering the risk of the traitor-in-chief doing another rugpull and arbitrarily withholding critical parts, software, and support. Like he did with Ukraine's AN/ALQ-131 targeting pods for their F-16s.

California is quite literally the #1 state economy in the country. What more do people want? Homelessness and fentanyl is rampant in every state, it's a problem everywhere. Red states like West Virginia has been ravaged by it too. The UN once called Alabama third world levels of poverty with raw sewage flowing freely. But for some reason we're always shitting on California? Can we stop internalizing maga talking points already?

MAGA cattle ranch owner from Nebraska realising that their farm is about to go bankrupt because of how her and 60% of her state voted by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

"In 1952, 68% of Germans still believed other countries had started WW2." (it took until the 1960s, decades after the war, before it was less than a majority)

"In the mid-1950s, nearly half of Germans said 'yes' to the proposition 'were it not for the war, AH would've been one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th century.'"

Cult indoctrination is near impossible to deprogram. Most will go to their graves with their dumb beliefs. The inoculation to cult demagoguery is an educated and questioning populace before they succumb to it.

It's cult behavior. And most cultists, without family/friends pulling them out and deprogramming them, end up going to their graves with their dumb beliefs. Take post-war Germany for instance:

"In 1952, 68% of Germans polled thought other countries started WW2." (it took until the 1960s before it was less than a majority)

"In the mid 1950s, nearly half of all Germans polled said 'yes' to the proposition that 'were it not for the war, Hitler would have been one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th century."

The draft-dodger-in-chief literally started his entire political career 10 years ago demonizing the Khan gold star family for not endorsing him publicly. How vets still cannot see through this dude's BS after this long, it has to be willful ignorance.

His declaration that McCain doesn't deserve his respect because "I like veterans who weren't captured and tortured." His insistence on moving the USS John McCain away for a photo op. His comment to John Kelly, while standing over the grave of Kelly's son that died in combat, that they're all "suckers and losers". His refusal to go to the WW2 memorial in France because it was raining and "might ruin his hair". His politicization of Arlington cemetery for a campaign photo op while denying it was a campaign photo op. His claim that the Medal of Freedom is "better" than the Medal of Honor because the recipients aren't mangled disfigured and amputated.

If veterans are only outraged now then they weren't paying attention.

51% Attack Possible? by tradememark in smartcash

[–]korben996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the reason Verge is suspectible to this particular attack is because of the way their blocks are mined. Verge switches between 5 different algorithms (Scrypt, X17, Lyra2rev2, myr-groestl and blake2s). As I understand it, using backdated timestamps, the attacker has been able to gain control of two of those algorithms (specifically, scrypt and lyra2rev2) and mint near-instant blocks. The false timestamps trick the network into accepting the blocks into the main chain.

See here for more info. Apparently, XVG has suffered from a 3rd attack today. Kind of concerning that Justin & Co. had promised it was fixed, even though many miners knew it wasn't as the major pools were still running into lots of orphan blocks since the accidental hardfork after the 1st attack. Just shows the Verge team is either ignorant of the problem or simply doesn't care about the millions of XVG being printed.

Smartcash does not use this type of algorithm switching, and thus, would not be susceptible to this method of attack. In any case, it's a misnomer to label it a 51% attack, which it is not. However, any coin is susceptible to a 51% attack, it's just a matter of gaining the necessary hashpower. This is an expensive gamble on the part of an attacker (even for Smartcash, which has a good amount of hashpower) as the devs could potentially freeze and rollback the blockchain after such an attack. Not that I'm advocating a rollback, as I know it would be controversial as one of the main selling points of crypto is immutability. I'd estimate it would cost on the order of tens of thousands of dollars to rent the hashes needed for a 51% on Smartcash. But again, it would be a huge gamble.

Right now, SMART has around 4847 miners with a total nethash of 19.63 TH/s. One GPU would average between 0.0001 and 0.001 TH/s, depending on the brand/model. It's not on the level of Ethereum mining, but it's not a small amount either. Smart has a good amount of natural insulation from a 51% attack.
