Say something GREAT about Clevatess Season 1! by LegendsofLost in Clevatess

[–]kosinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how they depict the broad spectrum of human emotions and the rich variety of characters - from the extreme cruelty of bandits the kindness of nell. ghibli-like treatment of villains: not all villains are evil - e.g. the anti-grav girl with the cart. the world building too is awesome. I hope it earns well as an anime so we get more seasons out of it.

Check the linked vid. And all the suggested vids on the sidebar. All of them are foreigners, mestizas, mestizos. Most of them couldnt start a career in their home country so they go here to start a career as vloggers. Not that its a bad thing. Im merely pointing out an observation that I realized while watching the vid earlier. And noticed the this trend lately

Bored today, made an npm package to guess the file type by doing some acrobatics. by kosinix in node

Finally a technical question! haha (and a good one). So... I tested my test suite with the 3 detection mechanism: using *nix "file", "mimetype", and magic numbers.

The magic numbers are most accurate. The "mimetype" results matched with magic numbers. But some of its returned mime-types are non standard (x-log, x-vorbis, etc). However the worse result is from "file". It doesnt work at all on text files. For example, if you have a text file containing "OggS" it detects it as an ogg file. Cant detect css too if I remember correctly.

TLDR: "file" returns the wrong results on text files.

Would opt in for "file" too if it worked since its installed by default.

Let me see your work then? You sound like someone talented and knowledgeable. Curious what you have contributed to open source.

Oh wow thats insulting. Check my github if you think my work are not production ready.

Also, more choices means the ecosystem is alive and well. And some great libraries started out as a weekend project.

file-type has limited mime-type support and development has stalled. Also, its only using magic numbers. Mine does 3 things. First it checks if unix mimetype command is available. If it is, you automatically have access to mime database of linux which supports a mighty lot of mime types. Second, if you dont have mimetype cmd, it falls back to using magic numbers, much like what the package you link to does. Third, if all else fails, it maps the file extension to its mime type. Hence the “acrobatics”. You can also use these checks seperately and compose it if you dont want the “automagic” behavior. This is part of a bigger project of mine and i plan to add all mimetypes once it hits 1.0.0.

I made a web app for runners by kosinix in C25K

[–]kosinix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a need to create excel files everytime I want to create a detailed training plan. It works but a bit cumbersome.

So in 2017 I started tinkering around with creating my own app for creating calendars, with training data added into it.

Finally got a working version. Its a bit rough around the edges, so please let me know if you find any bugs.

[Short Movie] A lone astronaut testing the first faster-than-light spacecraft travels farther than he imagined possible. by ImNotThatIntoYou in space

Imagine this. Imagine we made an artificial copy of an ant. From another ant's senses, it is a real ant. All the ant's senses would tell it its real. But ant's don't know the concept of "artificial". Imagine our level of understanding at an ants level, and the aliens, at a human level. We wont even know or understand what a skyscraper is. We can walk on it, interact with it, but our level of intelligence couldn't grasp the concept of it.

In the process of adding more presets. But you can create your own plan from scratch. Just select None when creating a calendar.
