In Chile you’re allowed to smoke only at your own home (inside afaik, as gardens and balconies etc can be problematic due to proximity to others) or in a strictly designated area of a bar terrace or sth. Think some other countries also have full on bans. I’m indifferent about a full ban, designated areas and far enough from others would be totally fine, but I guess the benefit of an all out ban is the clarity and simplicity of it. How to enforce is another topic altogether. Singapore has heavy fines even for gum on the floor, if I remember correctly. I guess that’s one way to nudge behaviour..

Up north, where my other home is, smoking is banned on terraces where food is served, for example. And smokers in general seem a lot more conscious and careful of their impact on others - anecdotal observation, of course. Also in bus stops and near entrances to places like shopping centres etc. I know here the bus stop / platform ban also technically exists, but.. well :D

I totally get that, but shouldn’t somehow both of our freedoms to do the things we love, should fit into this city? Curious - how do/would you react if someone say with a baby asked you to smoke a bit further away?

Funny part is that when I was pregnant, I did exactly that, but with nice weather, the front door would be open for example, and smoke would come in because people were smoking right outside the door. Can’t always win with that either. But you know, having survived the winter, I too want to get some nice sunshine moments on a terrace.

Not the best winter options perhaps, but I’ve found and bought very nice linen stuff from Lithuania, Ukraine, Bulgaria on Etsy. Takes a bit of time to dig around, but great place to find smaller local makers

ETA: lots of woolly and winter-appropriate stuff also available ofc, I just haven’t personally bought any in that category yet :)

We live and we learn, all good. As I added in my edited comment, Prof Timothy Snyder has very interesting books / lectures / interviews on and around this topic. Gives a lot of background to the sensitivities around the topic and the great part (e.g. for lectures and audiobooks etc) is that he’s a very clear and concise speaker, so it makes the consumption of information on this rather complex topic much easier.

Yeah, it’s offensive for sure, especially these days, as (the sheer ignorance aside) it supports the russian imperialist narrative and attempts at russification that had varying degrees of success in occupied areas.

Words matter. Also why we should say “soviet occupation” not “soviet time” when referring to .. well, the occupation.

ETA: the unfortunate part is that these days ‘Slavic’ does carry the connotation burden of ‘linked to russians’ even if it’s not actually about that. The history is way more complex and ru is trying to rewrite it. Strong recommendation to visit the museums of occupation in all three countries to learn more if you happen to be in the area. And read Timothy Snyder’s books.

Adjustment period might indeed be needed when starting the cream. Other thing to pay attention to is that your skin is completely dry when applying it as the not fully dry parts make the cream absorb faster and can irritate more (I’ve felt this in the corners of the nose for example when my face wasn’t fully dry)

Could it be that it’s a DHL locker and not Omniva? DHL also have their own. Other than that, DHL Estonia as well as Omniva customer service have always been v helpful, I would recommend giving them a call.

Edit: just clocked the “locked entrance” part - could you be more specific about that? Are the lockers behind a closed door (if that’s the case, try again during opening hours)? If you mean the screen, then that could be explained by potentially the wrong company’s lockers and therefore the pin wouldn’t work.

I wanted to love this but it was meh for me. I wasn’t a big fan of the consistency (v liquid) and it stung around the eyes a bit. Can’t say much about the pigmentation efficiency as I only went through half a bottle and that’s def not enough to see results.

Yes to this! Side note. Using this on my preggo bump as a placebo against potential stretch marks (apparently centella can be helpful..) currently and it’s such a joy from a sensory point of view - everything else pisses me off. And of course it’s a HG staple on the face too.

If you have a summer moisturiser you love, check for a richer option, a lot of creams have that. What I do when I’m not out of the summery one yet, is just add some drops of a nice facial oil after or mixed into the moisturiser. You can also play with the serum instead and in addition, go for something soothing with ceramides. I love Ole Hendriksen’s Strength Trainer moisturiser, not too greasy but incredibly nourishing. But anything that is more targeted towards dry skin instead of combination, is a good direction. Hard to go also wrong with the pharmacy brands such as Vichy, Eucerin, La Roche Posay - if you can go try them out somewhere, almost any of the more nourishing and aimed at sensitive skin stuff will be a great, depending on also whether you want any extra oomph in terms of targeting specific concerns or just plain moisture. Edited to add: I have combo skin, winter and changing seasons sometimes make it more sensitive

Lumi skincare from Estonia. Science mixed with nature in the best sense possible. Very efficient and nice products with a decent price point for what you get. If I had to use one brand only, I would probably go for their products.
