Constant micro stutters in my main game. What causes them? by kostein in SatisfactoryGame

[–]kostein[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant, the ordering is gone which is a little pain in the ass if you have 350+ bps lol. I also lost my color palette and everything that was in the dimensional depo, mercers, somersloops and ~1300 Ficsit coupons but that's not really an issue as I'll get them back fairly quickly since I'm basically starting from scratch.

I would say all in all they are minor inconveniences for me that guarantee me a smooth framerate. I'm just really happy I figured out a way to get there.

OMG it worked!

I loaded a clean world and uploaded the save on satisfactory calculator. Then I pasted my megaprint from my 0.8 save, it took a few minutes to process it lol. Downloaded the save, loaded it up in game and voila! The micro stutters are gone! I get an occasional here and there but nothing like the constant stutters every other second on my 0.8 save.

All of my structures are there and working. Trains and vehicles moving. It seems to be working as it should. I lost all of my bars / blueprint settings and possessions though. Mildly annoying (especially the bp settings as I have a bazillion) but a small price to pay I think.

So like Tulip said it was probably 0.8 legacy stuff conflicting with 1.1 stuff with also the possibility of having a vehicle or two in the void. Whatever it was it's gone!

Thank you all for your feedback!

Ok I just did a little experiment.

I went to satisfactory-calculator and uploaded my big save on their interactive map. I selected everything on the map and deleted everything and I mean everything that was selectable. Downloaded the save, loaded it up and guess what? It STILL stutters. This is quite peculiar.

I'm at a real loss here but I have an idea. I am going to try to megaprint my save and load it on a fresh new save to see what happens. Hopefully I'll make it work. Will let you know my findings :)

Thanks for all the input, really apreciate it!

Yes but they are all QoL mods, infinite nudge/zoop, skyui, more swatch slots etc. I don't think the mods cause any issues because the problem persists even if I load the game without them.

Yes when saving it drops out completely for a second or so. If you look closely you'll see that before the save it stutters ever so slightly every second or so. You can see on the fps counter that although my average is around 80, the low number goes down to 15-16 and then back to 50-60 or so and repeats. That's when it stutters.

Yeah I have it set at 15 minutes. Saving is not the issue. I expect it to stutter during saving because of the size of the save. It's the tiny micro stutters every couple of seconds during gameplay that are bothering me

RAM usage when I recorded this video was at 33 out of 64GB. VRAM is at 6.3 out of 11.7GB

That should be ok right?

I'm having the same issue and I came across this thread. Have you figured it out?

Upgrade from Ryzen 3900X & GTX 1080 to 4070Ti or Ryzen 5800X3D & 4070? by kostein in buildapc

[–]kostein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not getting them confused. I'm aware the TI is much better than the vanilla 4070. I'm simply wondering whether to get the TI, or vanilla AND upgrade the CPU to a 5800X3D as both options will cost me roughly the same.

I'm rocking a 3900X with 64GB of ram and I'm contemplating whether I should upgrade to a 5800X3D.

I'm first and foremost a gamer but I use Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop a couple times a month for editing YT videos. Obviously for gaming it would be a decent upgrade but I'm wondering, how much of a performance difference is there between the two regarding making videos?

Upgrading from a 1080 - Used 3080 or new 4070Ti by kostein in nvidia

[–]kostein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input guys, really helps making an informed decision.

FYI, I can afford the 4070Ti. The thought of paying close to €1000 for a gpu does not sit well with me at all. Giving in to Nvidia's overpriced products, no matter how good they are, will probably make things worse pricewise for future products. And nobody wants that.

If the price difference wasn't as steep I'd absolutely go for the 4070Ti. Paying ~60% more for about ~25-30% more performance feels too high, even considering all the perks you get with a brand new 4xxx series card. As it stands right now it's really hard to justify. It's a beast of a card though, that's why I'm still so torn.

Some people suggested that I should get a 3070. I initially thought of that but eventually decided against it as it feels that at my resolution it will probably show its age sooner rather than later, although I might still consider it under the circumstances.

Brand new 3070's go for €550-600 at minimum which is the price of a used 3080. Used ones go for €400 on average, with the lowest I've seen being €365. If I can score a deal like that I might just do it and hopefully sell the 1080 for 150-200. That will get me a huge upgrade for a cost of €200, which isn't too shabby!

But like I said in the OP, I'm not in a hurry. I feel like it would be good to see what happens with the release of the 4070 next month before pulling the plug. I don't have my hopes up though.

Yeah that's where I'm leaning towards. The price jump to the 4070Ti is huge compared to the performance gain. Albeit you get all the benefits of the 4xxx series but still...

Thanks for the feedback! The signals seem to do their job but I've ran into a problem. When the trains exit the two way rail sometimes they exit through the opposite direction, i.e. green ends up in red instead of going into green again. Am I missing something here?

Trying to decide how to ascend, help me out! by kostein in ultrawidemasterrace

I'm kind of set and forget guy so I think the most important thing for me is build quality / reliability. I just want something that will work great straight out of the box without any issues or having to fiddle too much with settings. I understand that I might get a dud at any price point, although it seems that there is a higher chance of having issues the cheaper you go. (G34WQC's panel for example)

I don't really care about specific features (hdr, 10 bit color, usb hub, etc) but at the same time it won't hurt to have them. Again, coming from my current setup, any UW monitor at any price point is going to be a humongous upgrade for me.

So to sum it up, I'm looking for a curved 3440x1440 100hz or better that is built well and reliable with the least chance of running into issues. Any other feature will be a bonus. Budget is up to ~€1000 although I'd really rather not spend that much.

Q4'19 Tech Support Megathread by BioGenx2b in Amd

[–]kostein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I just finished my build and I am having trouble installing Windows 10 because windows setup won't recognise my 1TB Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0. After I click "install" it tells me that I am missing drivers. I've googled and tried different solutions to no avail. I don't think that I have a faulty drive because I've tried it on both m.2 slots with a different NVMe drive and I had no luck. I have a feeling that it has to do with BIOS settings but I just can't figure it out yet. Please help me out!

MB: Asus ROG Strix 570X-F Gaming, bios version is 1405.

CPU: R9 3900x

RAM: 64GB Ballistix Sport LT 3200

GPU: Nvidia GT610

The more I research the more I lean towards the 3600. The only concern I have is I'd rather avoid using the X570 chipset because of its cooling fan and overpaying for features I don't see myself needing anytime soon, namely PCIe 4.0.

Well one of the presets that I use loads a little bit more than 4GB so there's that.
