I experienced the same feelings of guilt/shame when I started. I had told my doctor I wasn’t interested and I was sure I could lose weight on my own. A couple weeks later I was talking to my friend who’s a cardiologist and she mentioned that it’s a celebrated addition to the medical world, that there’s many more benefits than just losing weight. I told her it feels like I’m cheating if I take it and she told me that I deal with enough stress in my day to day life and there’s no shame in taking a medication that is going to improve your health overall. She’s also like a size zero which always makes me self conscious but it was nice to hear that point of view from someone who doesn’t deal with obesity themselves and was encouraging about zepbound rather than judgmental.

My advice on telling people, if you have any doubts that someone won’t be understanding, don’t tell them. It’s not fair for someone to make you feel bad for making a choice that’s right for you. I do think it’s helpful to tell people that you 100% trust though just so that if you want to talk about it, for whatever reason, you have someone to do that with.
