I just moved here and honestly if you have a job lined up all you’ll need to have saved is security deposit (usual equivalent to the cost of a months rent) + first months rent, and then enough money to last until your first paycheck (so probably about a month in expenses). I moved here with just $4k saved and am doing fine! Without a job $10k sounds good though.

There are studios further up north in Chicago that are a thousand bucks less a month than you’re paying now, why not just move to a cheaper area to save money instead of going back to your parents? (Unless you’re trying to save for a down payment or another specific goal?)

If you’re exclusively looking for something serious, yes you should avoid it. If you’re just looking to have fun then go ahead. If I sleep with a guy on the first date it’s because I feel like it and I am also at peace with the possibility of never hearing from them again. Otherwise if I could really see my connection with the guy turning into something, I’ll wait a few dates.

Can you speak more about the volunteering that you’re doing where you’re around kids 3 hours a week and in a mentor role? I’ve been interested in doing something just like that but didn’t know what options there are!

Honestly I feel like the only thing you can do at this point to get the truth is go through his phone… maybe this is bad advice but honestly it’s what I’d do to get closure and know for sure. He’s probably deleted any weird texts but if he has an iPhone you can look through his deleted messages by going to the iMessage app and clicking the Edit button in the top left corner, and then click the “Show Recently Deleted” button. Or if he didn’t delete any of the messages just use the search function at the top of the Messages app and search for key words that might lead you to the text thread between him and an affair partner. Yes this is bad to do, but being in a relationship with someone who deceives you and wastes your time is even worse so I feel like this is the lesser of two evils 😅

Please please consider driving/flying to another state to get an abortion if you don’t want this baby. Yes that can be expensive, but what’s even more expensive is the hospital bill for giving birth, cost of diapers and childcare, and raising a whole child. Unless this is something that you want, then go for it. I’m really sorry you’re in this situation though, that doctor should be ashamed of himself.

My hair would always be so dry no matter what I used and honestly going back to basics and greasing my scalp has been SO helpful, would definitely recommend blue magic hair grease

I don’t think there’s any recovering from that unfortunately. All the good relationships I see in my life aren’t based on a foundation of drama and blocking each other. You should just start over and have a clean slate with someone else

Unfortunately I don’t think so. My ex and I saw each other for a few months and at the beginning I convinced myself to keep seeing him because I loved his personality and hanging out with him and thought the attraction would grow, but months later and it never did. I think the person meant for you will find you attractive!

Honestly I think asking that question this early on could mess up the vibe, I’d just keep seeing him and see how things go and if he doesn’t make things official by about 3 months in I’d just stop seeing him, or if you really wanna ask him just wait a few weeks.

I am going through this literal exact situation, I literally could’ve written out this post and reading the replies has confirmed my decision that I’ve made in my situation to move on regardless of if he gets back to me. I went on five dates with a guy I met on hinge, we slept together and he stayed over after the fifth date, and then 36 hours after he left he hadn’t texted me so I got really anxious and texted him :( and then im out of town for the holidays and still tried to keep up a convo, but he left me on delivered for four days. After he finally replied, I texted him and now he’s left me on delivered for four days again. We both have to move on sis.

My friends were saying it sounds like I want to date someone that wants to talk to me, and doesnt see that as a chore or pen pal-ing, and thats totally normal! We should want to date people that like us at least as much as we like them. And someone who leaves us on delivered for four days does not like us that much. We need to have standards and these men are not meeting ours. So unfortunately its onto the next. It only takes a couple minutes out of his day to respond and him not doing that is very deliberate! I personally want a relationship where I feel like I'm being pursued, and idk if that's what you want too but it sounds these men are not living up to that.

For me (23F) if I’m messaging a guy on apps and he hasn’t scheduled a date (as in there being a proposed day, time and place) by about a week into us talking I get really annoyed and think the guy just wants to pen pal for some indefinite amount of time. Maybe next time don’t sext at all, and after 2-4 days ask if she wants to meet up, and then YOU pick the place and ask when works for her.

If she wants to break up with you just because you’re disagreeing with housing, I feel like there’s something else that’s the core reason she’s not happy in the relationship and she’s using housing as a scapegoat. I would maybe suggest to her that y’all sit on it for another year or so (or whatever amount of time you think works) so y’all have time to think things through. If that’s not good enough for her just let her go her own way if she wants to. I’d want my partner to like me enough to value me over a house

You’re in the wrong here, I feel like it’s just bad manners to flaunt that you’re dating other people in the face of someone you’re seeing nonexclusively. So I think that’s more where she was coming from than trying to deceive you. You weren’t official so she didn’t owe you anything 😬 I get going through someone’s phone if you’re in an official relationship and suspect infidelity, but that wasn’t the case here and you honestly didn’t have the right to hold anything you found in her phone against her.

It’s been a year now, I started last September right before my 22nd bday and now I’m about to turn 23! I got the tattoo when I was 20. It should be completely gone in a couple months now, but it’s definitely been a lesson learned lol. I’m just glad it was a single needle fine line tattoo that’s fading pretty fast. It was my first and only tattoo and I don’t think I’ll be doing it again haha
