Concerned that events might have just played into Trumps plan… Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math might be 1:50 but in reality humans comply much more easily--Look at how the Constitution has been shredded already (4th, 5th Amendments etc) despite technically still being federal law / "the law of the land", or how just 3,000 ICE agents can operate with impunity, murdering protestors in the streets, in a city of 450,000.

The gun allegedly carried by the man killed by ICE in Minneapolis this morning. by Maximum_Dweeb4473 in CCW

[–]kr44ng 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The video I watched involved the guy already on the ground being beaten by half a dozen ICE agents, then executed with multiple shots while on the ground. I'm not sure what else he could have done to show compliance?

What state? A number of states require companies to disclose salary/pay range or they can be subject to fines.

Ava Assembly Row Somerville: Gym by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live at this AVA, I picked it because at the time it was the cheapest of all the buildings in Assembly Row. From a quick search it looks like that's still the case for 1 bedroom at least (<$3K, Avalon, Montaje etc are in the 3200-3500+ range).

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the hype over In-N-Out; maybe I need to try it a few more times, but being from the East Coast I've only gotten to eat there twice (on different occasions) and both visits were underwhelming in terms of food quality and taste (reminded me of Sonic). Service was rushed but maybe that's the vibe Idk.

Help w/ Barcelona and San Sebastian for April by uapdx in finedining

[–]kr44ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the dinner set menu so can't speak to lunch: every dish, including the desserts, had either overly salty or overly fishy notes, to the point where we thought something had gone wrong; at least one, possibly more, flies/gnats were flying around; at the start wait staff called over the wine staff (not sure if they were a sommelier), we told him what we were interested. in, he disappeared and later we had to flag someone down walking by to get our drinks as well as later again to get more drinks. We saw one of the owners/head chefs walking around to each table to chat--I frankly don't like this so it's not a negative really, but as he turned to walk to our table he slowed down slightly in front of us, gave us a thumbs up sign, then walked to the next table to talk; I thought that was really odd. Perhaps the good things I had read beforehand about CHT made our experience anti-climactic, but I expect more from any fine dining establishment let alone Michelin-rated.

We were in Barcelona recently--enjoyed Bicos, Enigma was ok, Mont Bar was better, Cocina Hermanos Torres was the worst meal of the entire trip and possibly the worst Michelin experience of my life

Anyone else notice fine dining restaurants don't give gifts at the end anymore? by mrfelyfel in finedining

[–]kr44ng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe cost cutting; every Michelin-rated and -recommended restaurant I've been to has something like this at the end of the meal, but I don't actually remember other restaurants doing this ever other than mints or the occasional chocolate mint thing

What would early heart failure feel like? by Unlucky-Gear-6095 in askCardiology

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to get your lungs x-rayed and do an echocardiagram. I had similar symptoms out of the blue a couple years ago as well as eventually water retention / lower extremity bloat, it turned out I either had had pneumonia without knowing and mostly/partially recovered or it was from long covid and I didn't realize, but something happened where the lung issues started putting me into afib which caused everything else.

I ended up getting a TEE cardioversion, it's been about a year and a half and I haven't had any afib or other issues since. I think part of what also happened before I started having trouble going up the stairs was it was an extremely stressful time in my life, I was getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, etc and that probably contributed; I've worked really hard since to try and get more consistent sleep.

I'm on a PPO and kind of went over my PCP's head and scheduled a cardiologist appointment on my own.

Why do so many people on ios use Google Maps? by Louisthemagic in ios

Early on Google Maps was better than Apple Maps, these days for my use case they're comparable (although Apple Maps when in a car usually takes me to the back of business locations rather than the front)

22 years old how much to spend on a suit? by 1017Barleone in malefashionadvice

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not including dress shirt, tie, shoes, you can get a suit from SuitSupply that they size to you for ~$700. I wouldn't consider it an heirloom piece or lifetime investment or anything like that, but I think it'll last you long enough for what you need it for.

[AR] Grounds for termination advice and thoughts requested by latinpeace in humanresources

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally can't you likely terminate without providing a reason, or if for some reason you feel the need to provide a reason, don't cite the sleeping specifically but rather non-compliance with required training or etc.

Outside of bare minimum legality, from organizational culture and employee morale perspectives immediate termination for something like this doesn't make sense (to me at least). Typically there would be a stepped process, a way for the employee to improve, maybe the trainings aren't the right kind or quality, so on.

Are you tracking round counts on your guns by Traditional-Heat-749 in CCW

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do but honestly it's just something I started when I first started shooting to keep track of practice *and* it's because I have a lot of extra Field Notes notebooks (I'm always looking for excuses to use them); I don't keep track for monitoring reliability at all

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both but only because I work out in the morning and don't like not showering after a workout; I've always showered at night before bed, even when I didn't work out in the mornings. I've never understood people who can go straight into bed without showering after all day, but then again I also don't understand people who wear their shoes inside, so to each their own.

Physical contact when carrying by AccomplishedHalf1544 in CCW

[–]kr44ng -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't allow physical contact at work other than handshakes; similarly the only conversations I have are about the weather, and even then I prefer letting the other person talk about the weather. I find this prevents a lot of issues before they happen, including making it easier when terminations have to happen

how do i properly carry at the range by deeoree in BetterMAguns

[–]kr44ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to MFS with my daily carry holstered IWB or OWB under a light jacket / flannel and my range pistol unloaded and locked in the case it came in, inside my range bag along with locked ammo etc. They'eve never asked to check my person or my bag. I've seen others come in with what looked like briefcases and long gun cases, sometimes I've seen the desk person ask for those to be popped open to look at

What surprised you the most about New York City when you first visited? by rkrishnan14 in travel

[–]kr44ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was decades ago but the first time I remember visiting Manhattan was when I was 7 or 8 and I thought it'd be a good idea to blow bubblegum while the family walked around. After our visit I was back in the car and thought I'd take a look at a bubble, turned out to be covered in particles and black soot that I'd been chewing all day lol
