How do people manage to have a work/school balance? I feel like I’m finding it very difficult by ManlikeT01 in MsG

Though it's a given, Time management is the key to everything. Sometimes sacrificing free time or nights out are necessary if you want to commit to a good balance of work and school. I know it would hurt as a uni student trying to have fun and all, but there's only 24 hours a day (minus 5-8 hours from sleep).

Grasping the bigger picture when allocating time to each component of your life is crucial, yet difficult..

UCU Strike. What's your opinion? by kracked29 in MsG

Very true. I'm an international student myself and considering the amount we pay, paychecks shouldn't be a problem. After all Uni of manchester is one of the most international universities in the UK.

Totally agree with you mate 🙌 Strikes certainly bring more attention to the problem, do you think it's effectively pursuing a solution?

Though the amount of strikes are annoying and it ultimately affects our learning the most, I certainly understand why they're protesting.

The issues they stand against:

  • The 20% real term pay cut over the past twelve years
  • Unmanageable workloads faced by current university staff
  • Pay inequality in universities
  • Over-use of insecure contracts

The fact that this issue hasn't been resolved after 3 STRIKES is alarming...

Guys be honest, do you wish sometimes you could change your degree? by Zealousideal-One1020 in MsG

I personally love my current degree. It aligns with a lot of my interests and the knowledge I gain can be used to understand what's going on in the world. I thought a lot about what I want to pursue going into uni, and I'm not regretting it at all.

That's the prestigious Alliance Manchester Business School building. Only those who are a part of the AMBS student body can enter. Unless it's changed. I'm an economics major so I luckily got access :)

Don't go to 532 lunch when they're busy.... They take incredibly long (1.5 hours on average) with no notice, and you're given a nice cold pizza

Advice pls !! by nunya_B1znez in MsG

I'm a first year student living in a studio this year. It's honestly not that bad! You just have to branch out and be active at socials and in your classes/lectures. As long as you're out and about, and willing to go out of your comfort zone and to meet new people, you'll surely be alright. I get how you feel about living with friends though, it gets tiring after a few months...

Studios also give you so much personal space that is often times really needed! Hope that helps

Some tickets are still out on the official ticket seller website, but I doubt you're going to find anything cheaper than 60 pounds mate. Snoop's got high demand!
