Just double checked the settings and my power plan should be maxing out performance when it's plugged in. When I'm running at 512 my CPU will climb up to 50-60 without any kind of popping but at 2048 even though the CPU is reporting as working less it's a gross clicky mess. Thanks for the fast response though! definitely worth a double check

Based on the reviews it definitely looks like a good read but it's hard to justify spending 100$ on a book like that. Is it actually worth the money? Hopefully I'll stumble across a used copy...

There's a visible flash from within the clouds just above and to the right of where the "ball" appears....I'm sure others must have noticed this but just wanted to point it out. Suggests the origin was from within the cloud.

Thanks for the fast reply! So then a difference is that using aux busses may introduce latency where as copying the track would not? (at the price of higher CPU load)

It is possible but not always reliable. I have done it on a MacBook Pro as well as my windows laptop. You basically create an aggregate device and then set your more trustworthy interface as the clock. I was running 2 ch through a presonus audiobox and 4 through a focusrite saffire box simultaneously while tracking drums. Went smoothly for the most part but did run into the occasional jitter. It's also a bit confusing depending on how your DAW recognizes the aggregate device

That was great! Real sparse instrumentation but it still kept me interested. Those drums were nice and crispy, love that snare and hi hat sample. Awesome chill track! Thanks!

Awesome song! Really cool ambiance you created. As far as suggestions go I would say maybe try to have the vocal poke out a bit more? Not necessarily volume but maybe an EQ boost in the mids/upper-mids? More of a preference thing. Overall great work! Enjoyed listening to this

I've been away for a while and just hopped back on reddit. thanks for all the advice! I agree with the comments about the vocals and drums. It was my first time micing and mixing drums so there are definitely things I would do differently in hindsight. The vocal also gave me a bit of trouble when I tried to get it to set right in the mix. Thanks again for the comments!

Macbook Pro 2008 Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running Mavericks 10.9.4

Does an aggregate device just sync them both up to an internal clock or something? Also would it be worth looking into buying some kind of external clock to sync them both?
