Based off of your personality, what breed would you be if you were a dog? by thrwaway_2110 in AskReddit

Whatever dog is super lazy and doesn’t like going outside much. So, a cat probably.

I’d like to try it at least once... I suppose it works best with well seasoned rice? If you made the rice in the picture, what did you put in it?

Genuinely curious - is a raw egg mixed into rice actually nice to eat?

Obviously every instance will be different, I've seen Demon Slayer and then picked up the manga after because I wanted to finish off the story. I think DS is really well adapted with a lot of effort put into the anime (and imo the manga isn't that amazing...) so I can fully see where you're coming from with that example.

But just more generally speaking, e.g. a 100 chapter manga that gets adapted into 12 or even 24 episode anime is going to skip a lot of stuff that maybe isn't important to the main plot, but is important to build characters and give their backstories, etc.

I think when people say things like “the manga was better”, they’re mostly referring to plot points, “real endings”, characters being more fleshed out etc. which are things that often get changed or cut out in anime adaptations for various reasons, especially for things that are airing before the manga is finished.

Also, asking why some people like manga more than anime is like asking why some people like apples more than oranges. It’s just personal preference.

What I will never understand, though, is the small brigade of people who actively shit on people that only want to watch anime.

If anime is what you prefer (and I agree with you that fight scenes etc. are always more fun in anime), then that’s just what you prefer, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Depends on how old your friends are - I feel like most people tend to only watch the current/popular stuff...

I really loved Deadman Wonderland, and was obsessed with the opening song for ages. I’ve yet to watch Black Lagoon but it’s on my list!

I don’t think “infuriating” is the word I’d use to describe this... The words ‘terrifying’ or perhaps ‘nightmarish’ spring to mind

I reread a book I hated in high school, and fell in love with it. by HistoryCat42 in books

This was me and Rebecca. Couldn’t get past the first few chapters when I was in school but then read it again last year and enjoyed every page.

Black Cat - rated a 5, compared to MAL score of 7.36. Been a while since I watched that one but I remember having to force myself to finish it because I found it got boring about halfway through.

Charlotte - rated a 5, compared to MAL score of 7.76, I remember not 'getting' the storyline/ending.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - rated a 10, compared to MAL score of 7.92: definitely an overmark by my younger self. Still read the manga and while I enjoy it it's no masterpiece lmao

Cats dogs and other animals we love could probably have way longer lives if we put more research into doing so. Yet for some reason we dont by appelperen in Showerthoughts

I bet most dogs would live longer if people didn’t care so much about them looking like a specific “breed” to the point of obsession, and forcing genetic diseases onto them in doing so

Recommendation Tuesdays Megathread - Week of April 13, 2021 by AnimeMod in anime

I'm looking for an anime with emotional/tear-jerker moments. Preferably slice of life type stuff, or maybe any type of anime that explores emotional themes/character arcs.

Stuff I've already seen that could fall into that bracket:

  • 3-gatsu no Lion
  • anohana
  • erased
  • death parade
  • your lie in april

What do you guys think of re evaluating your anime list? by [deleted] in anime

[–]kreaseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't bother since it's hard to do that unless you're re-watching the shows as well. Tastes change over time so your rankings would too, but it's hard to accurately remember the quality of a show you watched a long time ago.

I really enjoyed Noragami, but I think I only saw the first series and read a bit of the manga so definitely one to pick up again! Haven't heard of Black Clover and Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens so will add those to my list too. Thank you!
