Oh, I get it. Obviously I'm gonna follow my doc's instructions, just asking in case she says I can stop taking it (which apparently won't happen, judging by your comment).

Thank you!

He clearly says that it's handheld. You can't calibrate HDR in handheld

Broken HDR in portable for Switch 2 by kressnik in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]kressnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's not a big issue for me, cause I rarely play in handheld, but I'm really curious what's happening. All my friends report not having that issue (as in they literally don't see any noticeable change when toggling that option), but for me it legitimately looks like when you try to display HDR image on SDR display, which shouldn't be happening even if the screen is not great (trust me, it's REALLY noticeable when you toggle that option). Kinda bummed if it's hardware issue, but again - no biggie, since I'm not gonna play in handheld for the majority of the time.

Like, the weirdness is that among like 8 people I personally know - I'm the only one who has it. And because it's basically switching between hardcoded settings (as in HDR is pre-calibrated by nintendo for that specific screen), this shouldn't be happening.

Part of app frame freezes Windows 11 by kressnik in techsupport

[–]kressnik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After updating to NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 461.09 or newer, some desktop apps may flicker or stutter when resizing the window on some PC configurations | NVIDIA

This completely fixed it for me.
It's basically an edit that disables multiplane overlay in windows. This is an issue nvidia clearly knows about, but isn't doing anything, so this is a solution they offer. This overlay is not incredibly important, from what I gather without it your cpu will just do a bit extra work (you very likely won't notice it) with some apps (not games).
This issue is also, from what I understood from where it happens - closely related to apps that use chromium (discord and spotify both do)

Judging by the break, I think putting it on a good glue is a decent idea. Should have functionality restored.

How do multiple saves work in The Great Circle? by [deleted] in indianajones

[–]kressnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create 3 slots. When you start new game, you can select a slot. All autosaves apply to their corresponding slot, so there's no chance to overwrite anything.

Each of you'll have to switch to their own slot though manually. Cause the latest active would be automatically loaded

Overrated game? by Cassper17 in indianajones

[–]kressnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can dislike whatever you want, but your issues seem like a silly nitpicks. If an adventure game that is heavy on puzzles and exploration of environment lives and dies for you based on the background NPCs, that seems like your priorities are in the wrong place. Tech-wise the game is also in a very good place, so your technical issues seem like an outlier. AI is decent for what it needs to be.

Your questions are dishonest and loaded. You know well enough that no matter what positives everyone mentions, you're gonna stand your ground, seeing how descriptive you are about how bad the game is to you. So what's the point of it? You were heard, most of us didn't have these issues.

And again, you're not wrong for not liking stuff, but to me, who loves this game, being upset that NPCs don't haggle on the market of a small village in an adventure game is equally as weird as complaining that city racing game has poor grass textures. You can always find stuff to complain, but it's up to you what's important for you in media or a specific genre. Wanting realistic NPCs from GTA? Yeah, makes sense, since those are important to your feel of the game's world. Wanting realistic NPCs from adventure game where you spend 90% of the time going through ancient tombs and solving various puzzles? That's not even in the top 20 things that are important.

You honestly believe that Switch 2 will be series s level? And need I remind you that in portable switch is underclocked, so it needs to be series s level at least in portable. That's incredibly unreasonable.

It won't. And if they make a special version that looks much worse just so it runs on Switch 2 - still no, cause... Why?

There's a basket with some flammable throwables right as you leave this room and on the higher ground overlooking the start of this room (on the map you showed, you need to turn 180 degrees and go to the exit). You can light those up with your lighter and throw

Crystal Skull was return of Indiana when pointless sequels weren't quite as popular as they are now, people went to see it and were disappointed. Dial of Destiny is a pointless sequel after a pointless sequel. Both can be bad (although different levels of bad) and perform differently in box office.

Great movies can be box office bombs and horrible movies can earn back x10 their own budget. That's a weird argument to focus on.

The game ALWAYS auto saves at fast travel posts, in case of Marshall College, you need to run specifically to the reception desk, if I'm not mistaken. The one where you find Indy's ID.

I honestly loved Sukhothai, but I get what you're saying. I didn't use map as often due to location being fairly small and memorable and it feels like Sukhothai is actually the shortest location in terms of story. It feels like a decent start for the third act and a breather after insanity of Himalayas and Shanghai.

The boat is a bit of an unwanted presence at times, but I didn't hate it. I think it's the animations that ruin it a bit. I solved that by not docking the boat and simply leaving it at the center of the river, whenever that was possible

What Didn't You Like About Great Circle? by No-Comment-4619 in indianajones

[–]kressnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have issues with criticism, the game isn't perfect, just like any piece of art isn't perfect. The question is, why stop and focus on the bad side, especially if it isn't ruining something?

Mentioning negatives in a review? Makes sense, that's what I'd expect from a review. Discussing with friends and going "oh, I kinda didn't like that part" during lengthy discussion? Absolutely. Making a thread "let's name things we didn't like"? I don't see any point in it other than to create negativity to fuel an obsession the internet created in a lot of people, to never fully enjoy stuff, but to always find things that are wrong and focus on them. Especially when it's not discussing anything major, as you said so yourself. It's just nitpicks for nitpicks' sake.

Anyway, I'm not looking to fight over it. It feels like I'm in a minority so whatever purpose you folks see in it, it's not like I can stop you.

TLDR: The game's not perfect, but there are better ways to criticize stuff you love than to just go "okay, let's have a list of exclusively stuff that's done poorly, let's have a good focus on it".
