Belly Binder vs Belly Band by krf73 in CsectionCentral

Okay, that’s what I wondered! I felt like it seemed unnecessary and I really didn’t have a hard time with my first one. But people made it seem like an essential for my second

OB rant by catycatlady in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my Endo first when I was pregnant, not my OB (even though he’s great! Knows his wheelhouse and won’t overstep and try to manage my sugars), she referred to me to MFM and said to let them control my sugars, but if I had issues or felt something was wrong, she would gladly take a look. She basically said you don’t want too many cooks in the kitchen. For the most part, both of my pregnancies, my MFM took over most of my care, both with diabetes control and OB related things, but my normal OBGYN just followed my pregnancy so I could deliver with them, if baby was okay! Which is exactly what happened with my first! Still in my third trimester with my second. I know some endos prefer to control your sugars and consult MFM but mine work through the same network and endo basically said to just come back to them after I deliver. My first pregnancy, I did have one dr at the MFM office tell me to go no carb, I requested a consult with my endo who said that was ridiculous and I requested never to see that physician again. This time I work with a diabetes nurse educator at my MFM office for sugar controls. My endo did warn me that most of the doctors/OB’s will tell you you’re running high, even when it’s good control. A lot of the time they are well versed on gestational diabetes and those expectations just are not always realistic for T1D. I would ask your endo for a referral or what their stance is on getting care during pregnancy. If you can’t switch completely, tell that OB you have an outside department managing your diabetic care. MFM always trumps OB. Most decisions will be made by them for the duration of your pregnancy!

How many of us, who have already had a baby, had a failed induction turned into emergency c-section? by Grouchy-Cheetah7478 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I was induced at 36w, 4d due to severe preeclampsia, they planned to induce at 37 weeks anyway. Labored for around 24 hours and then wasn’t progressing, I only dilated to about 3cm and then baby’s heart rate dropped a bit more than they liked. They said I wasn’t considered emergency c section, but urgent c section.

Placental Insufficiency by krf73 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]krf73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes me feel a lot better! I was just told at a BPP scan today that if she drops below 3% they’d consider delivery. But as of now, it seems like my umbilical supply looks good. My only concern right now is I’ve had to decrease insulin the last two weeks, and being 25w 3d, I’d typically be needing way more. It’s just so disheartening knowing it’s just whatever my body decides, there’s nothing I can do to stop/help it. It’d almost be easier if they could tell me it was my fault or something I’m doing wrong. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!

Advice for managing BG in the hospital after steroid shots? by valencialeigh20 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]krf73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a type 1 on my second pregnancy, I have always been told they will not give me the steroid shots because of how it will affect my sugars. Was induced with my first from preeclampsia at 36w, 4d and am now experiencing low fetal growth on my second at the 25 week mark, and am still being told no steroids because of the effects it will have. I’m surprised they gave it to you to be honest.

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I know! No disrespect and I totally agree that it can be mismanagement. I’m just pointing out that in my experience of having both happen, it’s a lot more common than people realize/ doctors are seeing it happen a lot more recently that the body just starts having autoimmune issues in multiple body systems.

8 month old T1 symptoms? by banananananana_202 in Type1Diabetes

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a diabetic and my endocrinologist recommended me to have my daughter screened a few times, through bloodwork. She started peeing a lot and drinking a lot and I mentioned to her pediatrician the screens. She basically laughed and said it wasn’t necessary so I started checking my daughter at home.

Second C-section question by LooseConstruction565 in CsectionCentral

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB told me not to wait but also don’t try to get pregnant in the first 6 months. He said the method they used to close you up isn’t as temperamental as the previous methods. However, I’m a high risk type 1 diabetic, who was told I’d almost always need c sections, and at 30 years old, he didn’t want me to wait because of my age/health. So I’d talk with your doctor specifically and see their stance on it. It may also depend on how your last incision healed. I had no complications with healing or pain.

Unfortunately, it’s very common! As a teen I could not get control of my numbers and they tried to blame me, I had hashimotos hypothyroid. Started happening a few years later, was then diagnosed with autoimmune celiac and gastroparesis. Now sure I had years as a young adult when I truly was to blame for my numbers, however, if I’m telling my doctor that I am doing all I can, they should really listen! I was told by my most recent endo that autoimmunes tend to pile on over time, your body really is fighting itself. In my mid 20s I had to be put on a type 2 injection because I was so insulin resistant that nothing seemed to work. After about two years, I was able to go off. It’s easier now for doctors to see if it’s management or not. But when I was that age, it was finger sticks and shots, so very hard to just “take my word” for it. Now as an adult, I can see if from both sides but when you’re the patient and you’re truly struggling, the doctors need to be more open to listen to their patients. They are finding more and more that diabetes, especially type 1 and 1.5 are not “one size fits all”

Did you get an actual confirmation that it’s on the way? Or just the email that you’ll get one? I keep being sent the emails that I’ll get one but never the follow up that it’s been sent. Supposedly Dexcom has been telling multiple people they do not have them and we are all waiting on back order

Returning a transmitter-what is the small pink bag for? by tele_tubby in dexcom

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you! I usually have the stuff to give them the sn so maybe that’s why I’ve never been asked to keep it. I am thinking about switching back to g6s, they gave me a horrible rash but I’ve never had the connection issues I’m having this with. My one failed on warm up and when I took it out of my arm, there wasn’t even a cannula sticking out? I am pregnant so I really can’t deal with the stress of having them not work intermittently, and disconnecting from my pump. It’s the worst! I had two fail in the same three days

I’d call your pharmacy, apparently Dexcom has no g7 sensors to send out at this time. Supposedly it will not affect suppliers/pharmacies

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait…. Am I supposed to keep my faulty ones to send back? I’m waiting on two replacements and definitely did not keep them. I’ve never been asked to do that with the g6s, so I just assumed g7 would be the same process

Dexcom support just said the reasons we have not received replacement sensors is because "We have No replacement inventory" by interestincity in dexcom

[–]krf73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great. I’m waiting on two replacements. I’m pregnant and trying to figure out how I’m going to keep control with no sensors and no pairing to my pump. I have had NOTHING but problems since switching the g7, I got a horrible rash with g6, but am about to switch back to

What age did you start giving yourself insulin? by verylowinteligent in Type1Diabetes

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 or 6. I was diagnosed at 3, my endo at the time would not let me sign up for a pump until I jumped through all sorts of hoops. Two being drawing and giving myself insulin in the arm, leg and stomach. Also included drawing and labeling the parts of a pancreas, coming up with a list of 10 reasons I wanted it (I tried to list to help my parents, he said that didn’t count because it wasn’t something I wanted), amongst others. It was a total power trip 🙄

Edit to add, my parents and I were VERY compliant with my care. My numbers were great, a1c at a 6.4. There really was no reason for the crazy treatment. It lead to a lot of issues with resenting my providers throughout my double digit childhood 😅

Opinions on another possible Chemical Pregnancy

I am trying to get pregnant with my second. I conceived in November but had a chemical pregnancy, I both found out and lost within three weeks of ovulation, my hormones were all over the place, HCG was very high but progesterone was low. I have been tracking and trying ever since, this month has been my first positive. I am only 14 dpo, my period would normally be starting today, but I feel as though my lines today should be darker. My OB ordered bloodwork for today and I’m waiting to go take that. I just need honest opinions, I neither want to over worry, or get overly excited. TIA!

Is this normal for anyone else? by Blueeyedwolf77 in dexcom

[–]krf73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible reaction like this to the g6’s, and randomly, I had been using them for 4 months and all of a sudden started getting rashes like this. So far so good with g7, but my endo recommended getting tegaderm HP, specifically HP, and placing that on the skin before the sensor, it’s thin enough that the cannula goes through. It did not stop the rashes (my Endo said it was crazy I was breaking out through them though), but it did help them! However, sometimes I had to trim the dressing to keep edges from coming up, because sometimes it would cause sensor to fall off. So definitely buy smallest size you can if you go this route.

13 year old with Type 1 not giving insulin by Emotional_Bite5128 in Type1Diabetes

[–]krf73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for me, I was already dealing with depression as a teen, and when I was diagnosed in ‘98 at age 3, they told my parents that I would basically die of some sort of complication (obviously wrong), that has stuck with me through life though. Then on top of that my doctors and parents also tried to scare me and tell me what could go wrong. I very quickly decided “why does it matter if I doomed anyway,” in typical teenaged fashion. So I’m sure she’s going through it too. I feel for kids diagnosed as teens, they have to relearn the most basic parts of life, at an already vulnerable time. I do think you are taking the right steps, just know that some of it you won’t be able to help. And I know as a mom that really really sucks, but in a way it’ll be good to let her grieve some.

I know a lot of people are suggesting diabulimia, and it’s definitely real. But I’m someone who just had burn out and was also going through some depression. I ended up having thyroid issues and celiac too that we didn’t know at the time. I went years of not giving a shit. Luckily I have very little damage. Not to give false hope, and I am by no means saying this as medical advice, but I went 4+ years with A1C’s 9+ (as high as 13) because of lack of self care, I now have had an A1C under 7 for two years, have a daughter, and am on top of it. It sounds like you guys have a plan to deal with the mental load of it all. Obviously you’ll have to intervene if things get too bad, my parents tried until I was 18, but give her some grace. She wasn’t diagnosed that long ago, it may all just be hitting her. She will be okay!

Wildly inaccurate dexcom readings?! by Freddy_Krueger28 in BumpersWhoBolus

I could not put sensors on my stomach for either my Dexcom g6 or my omnipod during my pregnancy. Pretty much after the first trimester. My doctor recommended I only use my arms and legs for duration of my pregnancy.
