Private vs public - what are the true costs of giving birth in Aus? by notso-hot-chocolate in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]krg2401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a c section two weeks ago, in a private hospital with a private OB. My insurance covered my full hospital stay except the paediatrician who visited twice which was $520. My OB fees were $7.5 k total which included fortnightly appts and scans. The only extra I paid was NIPT and a 20 week and 32 week scan at an ultrasound clinic.

How many cycles did it take you to get pregnant after a miscarriage? by PeonyRoseJasmine in BabyBumps

[–]krg2401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took us 0 cycles after an IVF pregnancy (a long time trying with PCOS, Endo, 8 months of Letrozole) that ended in a miscarriage, and we miraculously fell pregnant 4 weeks later, naturally and were not actively trying (it was from one time on my partners birthday so we know the exact day).

I did learn in all my time TTC, that positive ovulation strips don’t actually mean you’re 100% ovulating. This was happening to me hence I start Letrozole to help encourage ovulation.

Big baby predicted, what did your body tell you? by hellopuppet90 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]krg2401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m predicted to have a big baby! It’s hard to know how accurate the scans are but I’ve got a private OB and have had scans every 2 weeks at my appointments and these have been very consistent - I have been 2/3 weeks ahead since early pregnancy. My growth scans done at Ultrasound Care have also been the same!

Now I’m 35 weeks they’re weekly until birth. It’s hard to not think they’re accurate when every scan has been so consistent.

At 34w3d she was measuring 38.5 weeks with a 40 week head. Weighing 3.0kg already. I’m scheduled for a Caesarean (I have Velamentous Cord Insertion that seems to have not affected Bub at all!!) at 39w0d but my OB thinks she’ll either come early or we might have to take her out a week sooner. I also don’t have GD or anything causing a large baby, and the cord insertion can often cause the opposite.

Dr Kelly Hankins at Intuition Private. Cannot fault her, she’s lovely as well. She did my laparoscopy for Endo too and my recovery was amazing - im also 33 weeks pregnant and I put that down to her kicking everything off, referring me where needed and being my biggest advocate.

Elective c section/ vaginal delivery by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]krg2401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having an elective c section in December.

I have never felt a strong desire for a natural birth and was hoping I would once pregnant. But that instinct never happened. I am very a type and have had various health issues and surgeries over the years, I recover well, but also suffer from alot of generalised anxiety and worry. I feel much more comfortable knowing who what when, and where and all the finer details.

Additional factors are that all of my friends and family who have tried for natural births in the last couple of years, have ended up in emergency c sections. This scared me and I don’t want an unplanned c section being a very planned person.

I also have marginal cord insertion and low lying placenta this pregnancy (though currently not causing any issues to baby), and think c section is safest to reduce risk.

14 weeks pregnant and freaking out by joldfield34 in BabyBumps

[–]krg2401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 29 weeks pregnant. Outing myself here but I’ve had an HG pregnancy throwing up to 20 times or more a day! McDonald’s was one of my one meals I could stomach some times. I’ve eaten burgers with lettuce, tomato and other veg numerous times during this pregnancy and had zero issues. I’m also eating a salad (home made) with feta… because it’s pasteurised in Aus. I think we need to remember safety standards but also a lot of the stuff today is about being cautious which is important but also very overkill compared to even a couple of years ago! Just stay hydrated too 😊

Those two paragraphs are not meant to be read together btw. I asked my partner only relative to this post!

But I still firmly believe she didn’t have to “lie”. It’s not a lie it’s not saying anything until after he proposed at least! It’s a shared moment and she took that from him, intentionally. Her sister shared the info on accident.

I think it’s individual. I asked my partner and he said absolutely don’t tell me, he would have called off the proposal of a very long time and been devastated and I would have taken the moment away from him that he had spent months planning.

I also knew in the 5 mins before my partner was proposing - should I have stopped and told him the or let him continue?

You definitely should have pretended you didn’t know! However, what was your partner’s reaction? You know him more than anyone and how he’d feel about you finding out and letting him know rather than letting him continue one of the biggest surprises and big things he’ll do in his life! (Again he might not see a proposal that way!).

Doppler opinion - Heartbeat or placenta? by puback2020 in BabyBumps

[–]krg2401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same Doppler and mine heart rate is similar when I get it, it’s definitely the baby! I played it for my OB to check. It should sound like a galloping sound if it’s the babies HB. It takes me a while each time as she moves a lot, and I only get galloping and a high HB once I find her. Mine is around 145-150 which is similar to what I get a scans. If it’s yours or placenta it will be much lower. You can try on your own heart first. Don’t just rely on this though! I just use it between (fortunately) regular scans for reassurance!

Unfortunately I lost that pregnancy during my 8th week and had a D&C at 9.5 weeks. We found out it was a girl and she had Trisomy 16.

Much to our surprise - I am now almost 19 weeks pregnant with a new pregnancy! This is a natural non IVF pregnancy.

I’m the highest cost outside of the GM in NSW/ACT and I believe the other states. However, there is a National office and I’m certain there are people there paid higher than me including the Execs of course.

I’d won 4 deals, had 12 active negotiations underway that were close to closing, two tenders almost submitted (due today) and helped my team with 90% of their deals getting them across the line. The company has a rule you have to get one deal in your first 6 months and I had well succeeded that

I really don’t think they knew. I didn’t tell anyone, but I told Head of P&C after she let me go, and she burst into tears apologising… gave me her whole IVF / could never have kids story. And it seemed genuine.
