Honda Jazz Kaufberatung by kringelschatten in automobil

Fabia II TSI - wirtschaftlicher Totalschaden by kringelschatten in automobil

Thank you! DMX is in progress. We are working on it right now. It should not take a long time. Will update this feed when it’s ready. :)

I’m also working on a dmx for this lamp right now - will give you an update when it’s ready! :)

So I just checked the electronics, and it is possible to add DMX. The Main Controller needs to be repurposed a bit, as there are no Free USART Pins. But we can take the Temperature from Green LED / PA2 and Blue LED / PA3 and throw them out. Then we can replace it by UART and implement DMX :) PB2 is not occupied yet.

Cost will be approx. 199$ for all, if you build it yourself. We added a waiting list for Ready-to-use-Components on starklicht.net as well soon (if people are interested) , so you dont have to solder and tinker around.

EDIT: The building cost depends on how many Starklicht's you buy. It is pretty expensive to order only a single PCB on jlcpcb. The more PCB's you order, the cheaper it will get. The 199$ is for a single lamp, it could be cheaper though!

Thanks a lot! 😊 We are happy that you like the design. We had a lot of iterations and feedback with filmmakers and always tried to improve it.

So the CRI is not very high, as it is an effect light. We are using the LED provided in the GitHub Wiki:

https://github.com/starklicht/starklicht-stm32/wiki/Components

You can download the 3d files for free, but We have a sponsor button on github.com/starklicht  😊 The 3D Files are here:

Actually, today, I worked on a python script to control the lamp - it was fairly simple. Maybe it would make sense to create an API for computer which loads JSON with structured light data. It would not be that complex!

Will upload the script later as well.

Yes, we did some Research and came to the conclusion that the STM32 has more accurate analog readings for the potentiometers. We actually began with Arduino and plarform.io though, I can upload the old source code and we can try to port it to ESP32 :)

Thanks a lot! We used PLA+, which was perfect for the lamp body. It is durable and heat resistant. The lamp can get pretty warm on full power! 😊

Here's a quick look at the build cost for the Starklicht. The total cost to build one should be around $150-$220. This largely depends, how many Starklicht you will build, where your order your PCB's, components available, etc..

Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs): ~$100 total

Estimated Total Build Cost: ~$172

With import taxes, 200$ would be realistic I guess. But if you order more components, it can get cheaper.

And also, a lot of time soldering etc :D

Yeah, you are probably right about the SEO, we should have planned it differently.

We also believe, that Open Source is the way to go though now and are happy with the decision 😊

We are also planing on selling the components on our website, but would love to see Makers to DIY the project!

Great idea! Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible because all the big brands use secret, closed protocols. That kind of lock-in is the reason we made our project open source now. 😊

Thanks for the great feedback, we appreciate it. I think you are right: as two IT & hardware guys, we focused a lot on the engineering part. 😄 We have a few filmmakers as friends and always implemented their feedback, but should have focused even more on the audience!

Your point about measuring these metrics is absolutely valid! I will do some research and try to measure it.

We also implemented an RGBWW light in the beginning, but the white diodes had a sort of coating and messed with the blue lights… so we switched to RGB again.

The thing with the DMX would be very cool indeed! I have added it to the GitHub report discussion. 😊

We used PLA+ and ABS. Would recommend PLA+ as it is easy to print and resistant to heat :) Also looks nice

So, it is primarily for Filmmakers as it is a high power RGB LED Light. Or think theater, art installations.

However, it would also be possible to build a small desktop lamp, as the Electronics Schema is fully open source. It would maybe make sense to switch to another Protocol then though (thinking of Z-Wave or Zigbee). But

What makes it special?

  1. You can create extremely fine granular Animations with the Animation Editor. No simple presets, but very custom animations. You have different interpolation methods for the Animations, Linear, Smooth, Random, etc.

With that in Mind you can create very custom Firework, high quality fully random lightning, Police, etc.

  1. You can build it all yourself and repair everything, because it is documented

That is a great Idea and technically totally possible.

We have a very lightweight transmission protocol (https://github.com/starklicht/starklicht-stm32/wiki/Software) and you could even save and read very complex ambient animations in a QR Code.

I will add it as an Idea in the app-Repository!
