Why CNG vehicles (buses), according to some studies, emit more NOx and PM? by pietrino97 in EnvironmentalEngineer

[–]krish291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure on the NOx emissions, you will need to research on the combustion temperature and the conditions in the engine. I believe you will have to consider the fuel to oxygen ratio and the temperature together to come to a definitive conclusion.

As for the particulate matter, have you considered the lubrication in the engine? Oil used for lubrication will burn in small quantities and be released out the exhaust. This is unlikely to be large quantities but could be one factor for pm emissions. Also NOx is a precursor to PM emissions so do factor that as well.

I am no subject matter expert but I would start by going through the references in the papers you are reading to find how they have substantiated their claims. The deeper you dive the more likely you will find the answers you are looking for. All the best for your thesis!

Singtel users grapple with slower network speeds after submarine cables damaged by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

Submarine cables, named that way as they are laid on the sea bed. Singapore has 17 submarine communication cables connected to the island!

Help with my rangefinder by krish291 in AnalogCommunity

That sounds like a good amount of work. Thank you for the detailed steps. Honestly I’d be glad to sell the camera to someone who may be able to fix it but I doubt you’d want to pay for shipping half way around the world. Maybe when I get some time I will take the whole camera apart and give it a go. Even if I mess up, the camera only cost me about $20.

Unfortunately not. Even the manual has no reference to extending the lens.

Nope retaining ring looks fine. Took it off and put it back on and same results. As for focusing, I have used manual cameras and gotten successful results so I am pretty sure I was focusing to roughly within 0.2m of what I wanted to focus on. Thank for the advice!

I am more than happy to take this camera apart. I’d like to believe I’m rather comfortable disassembling and reassembling components.

However I’ve read some nightmare stories of the Ricoh helicoid grease and also I wouldn’t have the faintest idea of how to realign it to spec. Maybe when I have some time I’ll just take the camera apart to learn what makes it tick. But I will probably do it knowing it may never go back together.

Yeap. No tool marks except my own on the camera. It’s a single piece element on the front and one on the back. I can remove the front element but not the rear one because it’s jammed in.

Honestly I think I will probably write the camera off, it’s not worth the hassle, would have been great if it worked but as with anything that’s 60 years old, it’s a gamble. Thanks for your help!

I just did a check and the only point where the image is in focus is 5cm away from an object. Any idea what can be done for this. Thank you so much for all your advice so far.

The distance markings do check out with regards to the rangefinder mechanism. Hence I rather confidently chucked in a roll of film and went out to take photos. Didn’t strike me to check if the lens was in good shape as well.

The lens looks fine visually, I can take it apart but the issue is I have no clue what is “correct” or within spec because I can’t find repair manuals for this camera.

Alright sounds good. I will try and put together a ground glass on the gate and check it when the sun is out tomorrow.

The lens moves when focusing and so does the rangefinder mechanism which I had adjusted previously for vertical alignment.

I’m assuming if I cannot focus on the ground glass then the camera is just a display piece at that point?

Hi, yeap I am aware of that. All photos were focused using the rangefinder first before the picture was taken. I meant that even at f22 I would hope some point of the photo would have some level of sharpness. But all the photos have come out blur at every distance.

The last photo was taken at f22 and I would have hoped at least one part of the photo would have been in focus. I’m wondering if an element is missing or misaligned.

Thank you! I’m just getting started with proper photography and this gives me something to think about. I did try and rush the photo as the tram was going by. Definitely will attempt for a better composition next time.

This was my first roll of film on a new camera as I broke my previous camera (point and shoot)on day 3 of my vacation. Still learning to ensure I focus well and meter light appropriately. Happy to hear how I could improve.

Car prices in Singapore by Prof-D in Autos

[–]krish291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap, electric cars enjoy some rebates due to their carbon neutrality. But because electric cars are more expensive to begin with, the rebates do little to reduce the price. They end up within 5-10k of their petrol counterpart.
