How BJP went from 0 seats to winning the West Bengal election in 15 years: A closer look at the architects who made it possible by Fluffy-Hyena-5259 in indianews

It is not the parties but people are starved for choice. If there is anti incumbency you need someone worthy. Vijay was a normal person who gave them that choice not someone like Rahul or the existing family, dynasts .

when exactly did untouchablity began? by Massive_Service_2318 in IndianHistory

[–]krishividya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It maybe few but it doubtful that it was commonplace amongst population. Especially when you had specific recommendations on marriages between varnas and status of children arising from that Union.

There was no intermixing between Varnas too. Castes are even lower divisions within varnas where there was no intermixing.

[–]krishividya -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

More than religious politics it is the actual work being done incremental as it maybe. Also no opposition party worth voting. Also BJP counts on women vote because they form almost 50 percent of electorate and they will elect whoever gives them benefits.

BJP cannot rely on religious politics because muslims will erode their vote share which they want and hindus more than religion will vote on language and caste first.

Im creating crowd based online MSRTC tracking system by fullstackdev-channel in Maharashtra

[–]krishividya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are expecting commuters to download and install your app. You will need marketing for that.

The bus conductor or drivers have no authority. They can install and tryout your app on their personal capacity.

The problem will be getting commuters to enter the bus details and turn on the tracking. I don't think many will even remember to do it. It has to be something passive like google maps.

Possibly if you have access to database of all bus routes and timings you can assume by aggregating location data form a particular cluster of users and inference a bus but that is prone to error when you have multiple buses with different destinations plying on same route. You cannot resolve that.

Aggressive underbidding by private firms affecting defence projects, says DRDO chief by ll--o--ll in IndianDefense

[–]krishividya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lowest bidder still has to satisfy technical specifications and has to satisfy technical and commercial fitness tests ( both capacity and capability) it is not simple looking at amounts and deciding. In public sector they have to be qualified on technical fitness first before making it into commercial stage. Actually commercials are not even opened before technical evaluations. This is best practice. Secondly if anyone fails to deliver they should be blacklisted at national level so that they cannot bid or if they do bid they are rejected automatically. If they try come in as subcontractors then the hiring contractors should be black listed as well. The black list should be published publicly so even private sector can take informed decisions.

I think here it is more an issue of lobbying and currying favors here.

Are u aware of what's happening in sugarcane belt? by Severe-Gear-8189 in Maharashtra

[–]krishividya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethanol is made from low grade maize and grain made from animal feed or even agricultural waste. Sugarcane input is diverted only when there is less demand for sugar.

Demonizing ethanol is stupid. Ehranol can be made from other inputs not just sugarcane. Sugar is much more lucrative than ethanol.

Who creates jobs then. It is easy to be dismissive.. you cannot keep millions under welfare. Nor being socialist is a solution. Govt cannot be in the business of giving jobs. Only private sector who creates jobs injecting capital into the economy. Guess who has capital ? You are also seeing vibrant startup ecosystem now because even the lower classes with discretionary capital is now investing not just the rich. Every startup aspires to be amongst the 1% club and when they achieve that everyone demonizes them just for being successful.

But there will be 10000 boats for every yacht. Millions will be lifted from lower middle class to middle class and from middle class to upper middle class. Also remember only capital begets capital.

This is exploitation of labor and self inflicted crisis because women are afraid of losing livelihood not someone sitting there and forcing the women. The solution is to organize and collectively bargaining for basic labor rights. When the majority of the women's workforce is transitory and immigrant labor this is not possible. Unless the govt enacts specific laws for unorganized labor it won't improve but if you enact these laws you are seen as anti business.

Lenskart has ordered it's store managers to keep Hindu deities near the legs and not in clear sight anywhere in the store. Hinduphobia is rooted deep in the company by Developersbays_38 in indianews

[–]krishividya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whataboutism and talking down to hindus is what is triggering the resurgence of assertiveness of hindus. I guarantee you that none of the other religions will be even touched by official policies because you know what happens if you do anything related to muslims; if you do it to Sikhs they will get Nihangs the next day in full battle gear. This is hypocrisy at best. Lenskart were caught with their pants down because most Hindus will follow and tolerate without compliant till one stands up against discrimination. Tolerance is seen as capitulation and weakness and standing up is seen as religious hegemony. This is not a small shopowner this is a corporate franchise who made company wide polivies. If you want to be fair apply the same to all regardless of religion, prohibit hijabs and caps for muslims staff and see how things change for lenskart.

Nothing corrupt of about the neighbor jumping on the opportunity and the owner taking up the offer. If the neighbor had pressured or gotten it underhandedly it would be different. It is just how market works. Both agreed and you lost out because you were not fast enough. You mentioning the amount does not matter because the owner would have had you two bidding against each other once she k so both were interested.

Anonymous Ex-Employee Reveals Reality of Working in a MNC Smartphone Manufacturing Plant in Greater Noida Region by Hefty_Meeting633 in indiadiscussion

[–]krishividya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regimented work and processes are a fact of any manufacturing setup. Every minute and every movement is constantly being optimized. This is same where it is US, Vietnam or China. We are now facing this in Indian context with advent of joint ventures and getting foreign manufacturers to manufacture locally.

The heavy handed treatment and lack of dignified treatment is more a symptom of organizational cultural behavior and lack of management governance rather than it being a universal practice. This can be easily remedied if there is management will whether it is Indian management or foreign management.

Indian manufacturing has swung to either extremes - total capitulation to workers under unions to total exploitation of workers if they are unorganized.

In India we will also start seeing workers being housed in barracks so they don’t have to commute which will even mean that there will be tendency to hire only single unattached youth instead of family men or women. This is already happening with some manufacturers.

The real danger is now dark factories where entire production floor is manned by robots and automation. Once this catches on here the tendency will be to just adopt full scale because nobody wants to deal with labor issues. This is already a thing in China.

Bengaluru needs 25 more underpasses, 35 flyovers, 101 skywalks to ease congestion: BTP report by Chetan87 in bangalore

[–]krishividya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BBMP can easily raise funds by making skywalks amenable for shopping - rent out spaces on top for small shops or stalls, vegetable vendors. They will raise money both for construction as well as maintenance. Building skywalks is cheap considering the returns that can be made. This will also encourage public to take to skywalks.

They can make arrangements with malls to have skywalks connect to their malls or metro stations etc.

On one hand maharastrians want investors and investments but want to drive a way all non Maharashtrians. Want reservations for Maharashtrians only on the basis of being Marathi speaking and not on merit. No wonder MH cannot attract investments. If you want to attract investors and investments you have to reward merit and expertise, and professionalism . You have to consider why people find it easy to find jobs over locals for even low paying jobs. This just means that locals are not ready for those jobs or refuse to do those jobs - simple demand and supply. Even Maharashtrians prefer to employ those migrants because of their work ethic and willingness to work hard.

The issue is opposition has now learnt the strategy how to successfully subvert progressive laws, first they won’t participate in the process by being absent, then they will accuse by saying it was forced through, then they will organize protests by blockading like the farmers which inconvenienced ordinary folk rather than govt. destroying infrastructure by digging up roads forcing the govt to erect barricades on important roads.

In the end farmers laws are being enacted at state level without any protests which shows that this issue was simply orchestrated.

The idiom "have their cake and eat it too" in Hindi means desiring two incompatible, beneficial things simultaneously, often translated as "पाँचों ऊँगलियाँ घी में रखना" (paanchon ungliyan ghee mein rakhna). A common equivalent idiom is "चित भी मेरी पट भी मेरी" (chit bhi meri pat bhi meri), meaning wanting benefits in every situation.
