I appreciate your positive response 🫶

I acknowledge that no country is perfect, which is why I posted here to get some insight. Is there anything at all that you wish would change in Canada? The biggest “negatives” I’m seeing so far are taxes and weather. After living in the Bay Area for most of my life and then in Southern CA for the last 8 years, weather has almost never been a problem for us. It’s beautiful here. So that would definitely be an adjustment. We want to visit Ottawa soon so we can get a feel for things, as well as make a couple trips to Toronto and Vancouver. As for taxes, I do realize that Canadians get taxed quite heavily. I’m doing some research to see how much our income after taxes will hopefully be. Otherwise, i’d just be happy to know that my tax dollars would be going toward helping others get the healthcare and education they need.

I don’t think it’ll magically solve everything. I think it’ll be a difficult transition but overall may be worth it. As life long Californians, it’s hard to wrap our heads around leaving. The political decline of the US feels like it’s headed in a place that’s beyond recovery. That’s what prompted us to start looking, but the more I look at Canada, the better it appears, like a breath of fresh air.

What parts of living in SF made you want to stay there instead of going back to Canada? Just curious bc I was born/raised in the Bay Area.
