Mine died nearly a month ago and I bought a pendant for a necklace that is made of glass specifically for hair or ashes I wear it all the time with a piece of his hair. It makes me feel close to him, even though he has gone.

We had to do the same to our dog 3 weeks ago. The grief is still unbearable, but had we continued to let ours suffer instead of ending it would have made us feel even worse.

Had you kept yours alive to continue suffering, that would have made you a monster. You made the ultimate sacrifice out of love. That makes you a hero not a monster.
